Hi,
I am running a script to find out the plug-ins installed in my pc. I run the
same script both in IE 6.0 and Netcape 7.1, but I got different results. IE
says "JavaScript couldn't find any plugins", and Netcape returns a table
listing all plug-ins. Can anyone tell me why this happens? Thanks!

Only netscape has navigator.plugi ns, so yeah, IE wouldn't find anything.
There is no navigator object in IE.

Hi
I'm writing a program that needs to read from a file. In order for the
program to be robust, it should somehow check that the file isn't corrupt,
or stuffed in any way. For example, that file may have been created but a
crash occurred at that point in time (while it was being created), damaging
the file. Now, my program which needs to read from this file, should first
check that it's in good condition, and that it hasn't been...

Hi All
I have a Javascript to detect whether a client's browser has flash
installed, but as so many people are putting me off relying on Javascript,
could you please let me know if you know how to detect whether a browser has
flash installed using ASP.
Many thanks.

On one of my web pages there is an java applets which works fine on my computer.
However I noticed on some other computer that the run of java applets are disabled.
I got an error message "Classnotfound"
Is there a way to detect (with cgi resp. javascript) if java applets are allowed?
I would like to show a simple picture instead of the applet pane if applets are not allowed.

I did a search and basically came up with nothing for this question,
but if I missed the answer, I apologize in advance, please just point
me in the right direction.
OK, I am using a JavaScript generated menu on my site; with CSS enabled
it looks great, but when CSS is disabled it prints out all these menu
options inline and you have to scroll past them (a pain in the ass). Is
there any way to tell if the user has CSS enabled or disabled...

This may not be a direct C# question, but since I'll be using using C# for
development, I thought I'd pose the question here.
I'll soon be involved in the design of a new software product that will
employ a software "Plug-In" architecture. Taking the plug-in route will
give us a design that can adapt to, as yet, undefined future requirements
(within the scope of the plug-in interface spec of course). In the past
I've done this with...

I wandering about the common proctice of some UA's producers to spoof
the UA string to pretend to be another browser (most often IE).
Shouldn't it be considered as a trademark violation of the relevant
name owner? If I make a whisky and call it "Jack Daniels", I most
probably will have some serious legal problems. "Mozilla" partially
appeared because NCSA stopped them from using "Mosaic" in the UA
string.
Is it some different...

Hi, I'm now making a plug-in for a CG software. I embed
Python in a plugin and it works. The problem is that it
conflicts with other plugins that also embeds Python because it
runs in the same thread. I don't know when Py_Initialize() and
Py_Finalize() are executed because I don't know when user loads/unloads
a plugin that embeds Python. Is there any right way to embed
Python in a plug-in under the following conditions? If not, what...

How should one write a plug-in interface?
I've tossed around several ideas but rudimentary ones at best. For
example:
Plug-In-A -Plug-In-Proxy -Application
The plug-in simply hands off its information such as author,
description, functions, parameters, et cetera to the proxy -- the
application then polls the proxy at runtime.

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
