In response to a suggestion from someone on this list, here are the details
for the 4 little JavaScript code projects I need someone to scribble
together for me while I fight with an artwork deadline.

To any/all willing to take this on: Your time and effort will be profoundly
appreciated!

Lawren @}-`---
Requirements: the simplest of form and layout. To allow for Coder
individuality, each of the following templates should be a working Web site
containing the number 700w x 800h pages* necessary to provide for smooth
functionality; all 3rd party & custom art work will be addapted.
_______________ _______________ _______________ ___

#1: Main page:
- Simple JavaScript nav menu.
Should be a remote window that controls the main window. Each 'page*'
should include simple forward/back button navigation (as a browser does),
not an HTML link.
- Pop-up windows.
At least one JavaScript (top right location; w=100, h=100/ if two: left
bottom location; w=200, h=200) chromeless window(s) with "Close" link and/or
button.
- Browser detection/re-direction.
Detect Netscape 3/4/6+, and IE(any).
- At least one:
simple image swap.
at least one instance of multiple links swapping the same image. (ie: a
central image which changes re user mouse positioning).
- Time and date (CST):
Netscape 4,6+ and IE compliant.

_______________ _______________ ___________

#2: CSS Formatting & layout only.
(ie: No <font> anywhere) absolute positioning of all objects. Tables can
only be used for shopping cart.
- Form.
An order form for a 2 item product (rare live tropical fish) line; allow
up to 4 (multiples/increments) selections, auto showing cost + totals,
before and after PST & GST. Request: first name/last name/postal
addy=required; user age/email addy=not required (if email addy: validate for
@ and [.] ). Simple newsleter subscription query (yes or no). Form submit:
only after required fields populated and validated.
- Cookie: persist
Collect form data and display on above simple "shopping cart" page
formatted as simple table.
- Drop Down Menu nav.
At least one simple menu with at least one nested sub menu; renders in
Netscape 4+ and IE+

_______________ _______________ _______________ __

#3: Web page form.
- Take in and validate for no empty fields - first & last name/email
addy (has @ and [.] ) /postal addy/postal code (7 characters allowing for a
space).
- Write to new page as non persist cookie (format with simple table).
- Presentation.
Basic CSS using embedded styles for all presentation other than cookie.

_______________ _______________ _______________ __

#4: Page:
- CSS absolute positioning entirely for layout.
- Has simple side or top nav bar, top header with top left positioned
logo space holder (w=80px, h=80px)
- Content box (any position/size; will hold simple text).
- At least one invisible layer (absolutely positioned div) with a link
that can be clicked to visibility; include some simple method to re-hide
layer.

Thanks so much for your response, Ivo. I didn't want to insult the regulars
here by posting content that did not belong!

Per your request for details, here's the briefest format I can supply. It's
for a little string of web sites which will be used to help convict
parolees; expect to go live date is Apr 5/04 - 12 noon. Will be maintained
eventually by these (currently) non-professionals, so simplicity and easy of
use is the key. I'm doing the art work, for this as well as some other
projects right now, while suffering with a dislocated jaw, so any time away
from the keyboard is hugely welcomed I'm afraid. I understand you are busy
yourself til Monday, but I thought I'd post this to the list per your
suggestion. By the way, its not a problem that you can't test for Netscape
and Opera, I can do that myself.

Thanks again for your interest!

Looking forward to sharing with you further on the list,

Lawren

Good evening all.
Good morning.
I don't know where to ask this question, so I'm going to
launch out here. Apologies in advance if this is inappropriate.
I'm on a tight deadline and need someone proficient in JavaScript
This is an appropriate place to ask such question.
to take
over some very simple exercises in order to free me up to do the custom
art work. A student possibly, but proficient.

If you post the excercises or some more info about them to the newsgroup,
we could all submit our best answers and you can choose the one that looks
the most proficient to you. In other words, do you have more details?
As for me, I won't be available until Monday, but if you still someone
then, please feel free to contact me. I 'm not a student in the literal
sense, but studying all the time. I write javascripts in standards compliant
code with a focus on efficiency and speed in IE and Mozilla. Regrettably I
cannot test in Opera or Netscape at the this time.
Good luck anyway,
Ivo

Hi, I was wondering if someone could point me in the direction of some online exercises to help me learn to program (in Python). I'm currently working through Magnus Hetland's Practical Python, which doesn't have any exercises/problem sets (for the beginning chapters on things like string manipulation etc). I'd rather not get another book. Cheers,

Currently I am reading Sam's Teach Yourself PHP in 24 Hours. The book is very good, but it is extremely slim on exercises. I'm one of those types of people who learn by doing, not by reading or listening. I have been searching around for exercises to do, but I'm not finding any and what I do find does not correspond with what I've learned so far. I've even gone to samspublishing.com and they didn't have anything. I would greatly...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
