Hi there!

Voice recognition is an extremely complex field and years of effort and millions of dollars, euros and many other currencies have gone into research in that field. So, although I'm sure it's theoretically possible for you to solve this in Java (or a plethora of other languages), I don't think that many people would be willing to put that much work into it.

If you really want to learn about this subject, you should read up on things like Fourier transformations and Markov processes (especially the Hidden Markov model). Also, the Wikipedia article on speech recognition should give you some hints.

The next problem would be the actual tasks it should perform - opening a file or starting a program is something normally done through the operating system and Java as a language, designed to be independent from the environment it runs on, will have difficulties with that. There are ways to get around these problems, but probably choosing a different language for the task would be the best option.

Greetings,
Nepomuk

I want the user to select a certain executable and have the full path and file name written back into the text box. This is all pretty simple and working well in Windows 2000 and WIndows XP. However, In windows 98, when the user selects the file and the selects the Open button to close the...

Greetings, I have a "newbie" question in relation to opening files from C#. I have a Windows form where I allow the user to type in a file extension in a text box (e.g., "xls"). I then take that extension and use that as my filter criteria for the File Open dialog. Once the user selects a file with that extension (from the File Open dialog), I simply want to open that file (whether it is an .xls file, .txt file, etc.). I am...

Currently (manually), I 1) open a Windows SDK Command Prompt and 2) navigate to a particular folder. Then I 3) type a command and press enter. The command is irrelevant (WCF-related) but here it is FYI: svcutil http://localhost/COWFeedyardService/Services/Pen.svc /out:Pen.vb /config:App.config /language:VB All works fine, but I need to do this over a hundred times changing "Pen" to the names of the other classes and re-executing.

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
