I'm trying to understand a functional language code fragment so I can
explain its syntax and workings to my non English-speaking background
neighbour, who is doing her finals.
What in heaven's name is this code fragment intending? (In English
prose if possible).
It looks like a fragment from a language called "scheme"
(define (this n)

Hi,
I am looking for a class or any information which would allow me to
make communicate mini-module in c++. I have been looking
on the net for some examples of such implementation, but I did not
find any good one. This is why I am asking here if some
of you know where to find some information on the internet about such
implementation.

Hello comp.lang.js.I need a script to rotate a background image on
each newpage load, given the id of the element and a list (array?)of 2 or
more image paths ("img1.jpg", "img2.jpg", ...).Actually, depending on
how I write the HTML, I guess I'dneed the script to set
style.backgroundImage or src.I'd need to run it on a few elements, something
like:setRandomBgImg('thingy1', ('img1a','img1b', ...)
)setRandomBgImg('thingy2', ('img2a','img2b',...

I've now reached the end of my "mini-series" around SQL Procedures.
If anyone has ideas on SQL related topics that need illuination I'm all
ears.
MERGE has come up a couple times so far....
Anything else?

I have a single DataTable in a DataSet. It has 4 columns and i'd like to
get a handful of counts of unique items in 3 of the 4 columns.
Can a DataTables Select or Compute methods to COUNT DISTINCT?
These two attempts failed
DataRow dr = ds.Tables.Select( "COUNT(DISTINCT(site_name))" );
object x = ds.Tables.Compute( "COUNT(DISTINCT(site_name))",
"ProductionCount > 0" );

VS 2005. I have compiled my dlls/exes in Release mode and also setting
Debug Info="full"under Project - Properties - Build - select "Release"
under "Configuration" drop down - the Advanced button at the bottom.
When I compile, I get all pdbs for each dll/exe. We are running Win
XP. At the client, my app then crashes, and a dump is created on the
user machine where the app runs, but it is completely empty. Of
course, I would like to get...

This is an entry I just added to ASPN. It is a somewhat novel technique I
have employed quite successfully in my code. I repost it here for more
explosure and discussions.

Hello I have an XML tree of which you can see a mini-version here:
http://paste.uni.cc/11838
(the tree is actually over 30,000 levels deep)
How do I count the depth of a given <NODES><NODE?????
The problem is I would like to "color" nodes based on their depth in
the tree - ie, use alternating colors.

Hi, I just wrote a mini C# lab for myself, I think it may be useful for
others, so I shared it on my blog.
If you often need to write only serveral lines of code and don't want to
waste time on waiting for Visual Studio startup, maybe you will be interested
in it.

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
