Hi Folks,
I'm a brand new Python programmer, so please point me in the right
direction if this is not the best forum for this question....
I would like to open an existing MS Excel spreadsheet and extract
information from specific worksheets and cells.
I'm not really sure how to get started with this process.
I ran the COM Makepy utility from my PythonWin (IDE from ActiveSTate),

I am calling my C++ function (in a DLL) from a python script as
follows:
_dllcall('add','ll','l',(var1,var2))
This works fine if the 2 parameters accepted by the function are
normal "long" type.
If the function expects a pointer type parameter then the same way of
passing the parameter doesn't work. For example if the C++ function
expects a "long *" and I am calling it as:

Hi.
I am part of a group in my univ where we organize a programming
contest. In this contest we have a UDP based server. The server
simulates a game and each contestant is to develop a team of virtual
players. Each team is composed of 75 similar bots...i.e. governed by
the same logic. Thus the contestant submits a single copy of the client
and we instantiate the same program 75 times at the same time.
The problem is that while executables...

From a not even newbie:
Without knowing much about Python (yet) I'm trying to install the CMS
Zope via FTP (with the well documented changes to make it work on an
Apache server).
By birth Zope is started from a shell script. And not having the
permissions to execute such ones I'll try writing a .py script (with the
shebang that I allready knows will do the job) to call another .py
script like the original shell script does.

Hi Everyone,
I run into a problem. I am trying to write an aspx that can
dynamically generate an image based on some input parameters.
Things are very simple if the size of the parameters is small and I
can put them on the URL and pass them in as HTTP GET. In my image
generation script I just need to read the parameters and then pump out
the right MIME type and the right image byte stream. It is also very
easy to use:

Can someone please help me with this:
I have a python script, that at some point calls a linux bash script (.sh). Starting the shell script is the last thing my python script needs to do, so I would like for the python script to exit once the call has been made, without waiting for the shell script to finish.
My question is:
how do I call a shell script from a python script?
and how do I do that such that control is tranferred to the...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
