To access data in a MySql server, with a Swing Application
(Which has been installed on a client machine,)
we need to install MYSQL server in client machines also, don't we?
If some one can confirm this, I'm so much obliged. Because I'm
familiar with web based applications, but not with JFC and other
stand alone applications. If it is, tel me how to do client
installation and how to connect it with server database, and
how to access Data with a Swing application.
My Swing application runs well accesses data, connecting to the MySQL database
when I run it on my local machine(with a server installation of MySQL database).
[when both database and the Application exist on the same machine]
I'm worried whether it will not work properly when I deployed the application
in client machines,having deployed the database on a specific server machine.
Application is just provided,
1- host (IP Address)
2- Database name.
3- Username (root)
4- password.

as : jdbc:mysql://localhost:3306/users_db?user=r oot&password=in truder";
or with local IP address,
as : jdbc:mysql://192.120.100.85: 3306/users_db?user=r oot&password=in truder";

But not any port when creating JDBC-MySQL connection.(??? Somewhat peculiar to me).

1- should I install MySQL on alll the client machienes also?
2- if it is, what I must do more to link them with the database in the server machine?

Please help me to clarify this matter.

Thanks In Advance!

You don't need to install MySQL on all the client machines. You'd have to do some replication if you go that route.

Read about how to use Java Web Start to deploy Swing applications.

Hey Thanks! This an amazing answer! I was not knowing about Java web start and the extension *.jnlp. But You made me learning about that. I think I would be able to use my application on client machines, without installing MySQL on each and every client. Thanks a lot!

Can someone point me to a definitive source for the answers to the following two questions: 1) In an environment with Redhat Linux 2.4.21-27.0.1, Apache 1.3.31, PHP 4.3.10, and GNU gettext 0.14.1, will using PHP's gettext support along with the GNU gettext utilities work properly? For example, I've seen references to the translated strings in .mo files not always being what appears

Hello, I had what I thought was normal text-file and I needed to locate a string matching a certain pattern in that file and, if found, replace that string. I thought this would be simple but I had problems getting my algorithm to work and in order to help me find the solution I decided to print each line to screen as I read them. Then, to my surprise, I noticed that there was a space between every character as I outputted the lines to the...

How will Access fair in a year? Two years? .... The new version of Access seems to service non programmers as a wizard interface to quickly create databases via a fancy wizard. Furthermore, why would you even continue to use Access as a backend when you have a much superior option in SQL express? What about as a future front-end development tool? Let's get serious. Microsoft continues to publish numerous articles and videos on how you...

When we do this Test *ptr=new Test; then runtime memory manager will allocate 10*sizeof(Test) + X bytes(X varying from implementation to implementation) But instead if I call operator new explicitly like Test *ptr = static_cast<Test *>(operator new( 10*sizeof(Test) ));

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
