updating parent window from popup-- pls help its urgent

1 New Member
please guide me. i have the following problem:

i have a parent window that has a dropdown that is showing names and which is getting its value from a table.table conatins two columns, one is Name and other is Release.

there is a button called AddNew which is used to add new Name and release in table.

on clicking the button a popup window opens that has two textbox for Name and Release. on clicking the submit button new jsp page is called that inserts the Name and Release in the database. popup window also closes when submit button is hit.

now i want to show the newly added value in my dropdown of the first page. i am not able to refresh it from third page. it shows the new NAme if refreshed manually.

i know how to refresh page from popup. it can be done by using document.opener .location.reloa d. but problem is that popup has closed and third jsp runs independent of popup.

is there any way to stop the closing of popup till database is updated or to refresh the first page from third page directly????

i tried putting a while loop in popup so that it waits till database is updated and then updates the parent and then get closed but that didnt work.

any help will be appreciated. TIA

I have a little bit of code in a popup window that attempts to detect when the parent window is closed or rather just jumped to another page url. the expression below is used in a popup created from a frame in the parent window: self.opener.closed This yields 'false' while the parent is opened. The problem is, it

I have a website which has a popup window (this only opens when the user chooses to open it). In the popup window I have a <select> control which lists a selection of "classes". Each class has a description and a class_id (stored in the value attribute of each option). The user will then select a class from the drop-down list. What I want to do is have a control in the parent browser window which can store the class_id and the...

Im relatively new, so please be patient with me... I need to update a parent .aspx screen from a popup and close the popup. Normally I would use 'window.opener.location.reload(true);self.close();' but i need the parent window not to reload or else data that the user has already entered will be lost during the IsPostBack. I need the 'Apply' button on the popup to trigger the 'Update' button on the parent screen. The script ive seen...

I am thinking about using a popup window to edit settings that will affect parent asp.net page. The data that is changed in the popup window will be saved to the datastore that is loaded and displayed by the parent page. In order to refresh the parent page, I would like to raise an event in the popup (child) page that is subscribed to by the parent so that I can rebind the data in the parent page once the data in the child window data is...

I did a ton of searching to try and find a simple solution to this issue and finally wrote my own, which I am sharing with everyone. In my searching, I did find a very complete and robust solution at http://weblogs.asp.net/asmith/archive/2003/09/15/27684.aspx but it was far more complex then I needed. (I got lost trying to figure it all out). Therefore, here goes my simple "web dialog box with parent event handler fireing" solution. ...

hi all, quick question, how do you submit a form to a parent window from a child popup window? i have the following and all online documentation *suggests* that it should work but it does NOT: // Parent window: <script language="JavaScript"> function popup(url, name) { window.open(url, name, "width=800,height=600,scrollbars=yes");

Is there a way to decouple the linkage between a parent and a child window? Does the parent window have any sort of a collection that holds all the children that it has spawned? I want to break that connection from the parent side or the child side, it doesn't matter as long as the communication link is completely broken. I don't want the parent to be aware of the child and vice-versa.

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
