I understand its possible to sniff some packets that will be passing through a network interface card. You use JPCap .

In addition to JPCap, I'd recommend researching that a bit with Google - you can find a bunch of things people have already done, and probably APIs for stuff you didn't know was out there.

Hi, I implemeneted an FTP client and server long time back using Java. I found sockets porgramming in java quite useful and easy to handle. I now wanted to implement a similar program using C++. My questions are 1. How good a language is C++ for network programming? 2. what are good onine resources to learn C++ network programming? 3. How similar it is to Java socket programming? Thanks in advance.

Hi, I have the following problem: I am implementing a server in Java and I use jdbc to connect to an Oracle 9.0.2 db. All seem to work fine, but when I intensionally cause a network failure (i.e. I remove the network cable) I get the following exception: java.sql.SQLException: Io exception: Connection reset by peer: socket write error

Hello, everyone. I just began school, and they already assigned us science fair. Since I'm in 8th grade, I get to do demonstrations for our projects. I'm probably going to demonstrate Python's networking capabilities by writing a simple instant messenger program. I only have a few problems: 1. I know squat about Python network Programming 2. I know nothing about networks

Dear PostgreSQL experts, This is with version 7.4.2. My database has grown a bit recently, mostly in number of tables but also their size, and I started to see ANALYSE failing with this message: WARNING: out of shared memory ERROR: out of shared memory HINT: You may need to increase max_locks_per_transaction.

Hi I am currently programming a TCP socket to transfer large files. My client is running on .NET application and my server is running on Java. I am using TCP socket to transfer file over the network, and I am able to achieve it only if I segment my own file and then send them over the network one segment by one segment. I would like to ask that why do I have to do this when TCP is able to help me handle the whole large file. I thought that...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
