The Java Experts may disagree, but I would start this thread in the Software Development forum.
While it may be a java project, I would suggest that the technical nature of such a discussion is more appropriate in a forum where experts gather to discuss various technologies, rather than in an open forum where people are visiting primarily to ask questions.

This message doesn't seem to have filtered through - so I'm going to post again. I am trying to write an aspectj aspect that does the following. For all setters, before() it should check the contents of the setter and compare it with the appropriate getter using an equals() method. if the objects are equal it does nothing, otherwise it changed a hasChanged flag to true.

This post is somewhat off topic, but I know of no better place to post it! SourceForge is often mentioned here. SourceForge itself hosts thousands of forums, but none of them (AFAIK) are for discussing sourceforge itself. There does not seem to exist any forum where it's appropriate to discuss SourcForge. The SourceForge admins are therefore cut off from any public discussion of their project. I'm a fan of SourceForge, and I think it...

Hi, often I see people telling that "javascript sucks" - is it because of the DOM with JS ? - is it because of the language in itself ? - is it because browsers/hosts differences ? - is it because of language limitation ? etc. please don't turn this into a flame/troll war,

I've encountered a troublesome inconsistency in the C-language Perl extension I've written for CPAN (Digest::SHA). The problem involves the use of a static array within a performance-critical transform function. When compiling under gcc on my big-endian PowerPC (Mac OS X), declaring this array as "static" DECREASES the transform throughput by around 5%. However, declaring it as "static" on gcc/Linux/Intel INCREASES the throughput by...

Hello. I have some ideas to make my life better and work with C++ easyer. I agree, that it is not easy for me to push the ideas into language, so the ideas (more then 30!) will be published (beacause of they are already exist) to discuss and for other purposes on the web page here: http://grizlyk1.narod.ru/cpp_new . Note: The published proposals do not sorted by any rules. I will place all of them one by one (it can take some time)...

Hello, Early on I decided that all text (what most people call "strings" ) in my code would be unsigned char *. The reasoning is that the elements of these arrays are decidedly not signed. In fact, they may not even represent complete characters. At this point I think of text as simple binary blobs. What charset, character encoding and termination they use should not be exposed in the interface used to operate on them. But now I have...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
