Hi,
We have an applet which is not loading on some systems.
We suspect it is a security issue, but cannot be sure as of yet.
Is there any way of programatically trapping the failure so we can log it
somewhere?
Cheers,

Hello all , thanks in advance for any help. While looking for a solution to how to replace the grey box while an applet loads, a search of Google got me an article by Glenn s. Peffers that claims to solve the problem.
You can find the article at http://www.codeproject.com/java/javaappletwaitmsg.asp
I have adapted the code to my situation but can't get it to work. Maybe someone has an idea how to fix it... Here is the code
Cheers,

hi all,
i'm stumped. my applet used to load images over the network. (it was actually designed by someone else.) yes, the applet used to load each image file independently over the network and incurred a network hit per image file.
i wanted to avoid the overhead of a separate network connection for each image file, so i bundled all the images into the JAR file. yet, somehow, the loading time for the applet is slower now! i'm totally...

I am new to java and java applets. i'm trying to "interact" with a java
applet on a website. After loading the webpage that contains the applet into
a browser object (in visual basic.net) i was able to to make simple calls to
the java applet - calls such as .getcodebase and .getparameter along with a
few others.
i decompiled the java class files for this applet (the web site stores them
in a zip file on your local drive)...

I have a website & applet produced under Windows-XP. It works fine. I took
it to a machine running Windows 98 & an earlier version of Java to test what
happens when I open the web page using IE6 & FireFox. The html invoking the
applet is:

height='340'>
This applet was coded using Java 1.5.0_08-b03.</applet>
Instead of the expected text, both browsers said "Loading Java...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
