No, it is 100% reliable way of doing it. There are ways to achieve some
notification through Javascript, but IE does not guarantee the execution of
that code. So it will work most of the time, but definetely not always.

The solution is to keep the session timeout as low as possible (5 to 15
minutes) and cleanup when the session expires.

Dobromir

In my application I need a way to distiguish between the following events: 1. When a user closes an MDI child window. 2. When the user closes the MDI parent window which subsequently closes the MDI child window. My application does certain logic when the user actually closes the MDI child form by clicking the "X" in the upper right hand. My application, however, should not execute this logic if the user closes the MDI parent. I...

I need to capture the event when the user closes the browser in my application. I have some code in the session_End event, which works fine when the session times out, but I need to end the session immediately when the user closes the browser. Does anyone know a way of doing this? -- Thanks,

Hi, vb.net - windows forms I need to know when the dropdown list on my derived combobox closes. There is a DropDown event and a OnDropDown override, but I want to know when it closes. It is an ownerdrawn combobox, so i am handling the Drawitem event myself.

Hi, I have an asp.net web application which uses a pop-up form that works a bit like a dialog box. when the user clicks "OK" it does a postback (basically a form post if you don't know .net) to save the contents of the form, and then I put an onload event to do a window.close. this works fine for hundreds of people on different browsers. However, for one user the window does not close.

Hello, I'm writing trace log of various actions happening in my ASP.NET web application by opening a text file when the user logs in to the system and closing the file while the user logs out. This is especially to nail a hangout issue. The problem I'm facing is, when the application hangs and the user closes the browser using close(X) button I'm not able to close the text file(handle). This keeps the file handle open and the contents...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development projectplanning, coding, testing, and deploymentwithout human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
