Hello,
Newbie question: Does anyone know how to dynamically set the screen
width in an applet? I have an applet that creates a horizontal bar
menu on a webpage, and I would like the width to be 100%.
Unfortunately, this doesn't work with Explorer. so, in my html page,
I wrote a function like this:
<SCRIPT LANGUAGE="JavaScript">
int function getScreenWidth()

I have an applet that sizes itself to the size of the browser frame
that it is running in. On IE the applet resizes upon dragging the
frame divider.
I'm having a problem with getting this applet to resize itself when I
resize the html frame if it's in Netscape 7.x. Seems like the problem
is the lack of a refresh signal to the java applet from the page. Is
this a known bug, is there a workaround? Thanks.

I've always been bothered about having to statically declare the size of
a Java applet window (container?) in the calling HTML. I've always
wanted the moral equivalent of width=50% statement (of the window or
frame). I'm trying to use Javascript to do so.
I can sort of get an example working in a Mozilla browser:
> <!-- This works on Mozilla only (and maybe netscape) -->
> <script language="Javascript">

Can anyone help me please? How do I convert these codes to launch from a JFrame instead of a Java Applet?
A simple program where the user can sketch curves and shapes in a
variety of colors on a variety of background colors. The user selects
a drawing color form a pop-up menu at the top of the
applet. If the user clicks "Set Background", the background
color is set to the current drawing color and the drawing

Hi guys,
First post, hope you can help, I have done two sites www.trisant.co.uk and my own www.firstexact.co.uk. The 2 x 2 grid I originally envisaged goes haywire in Firefox as I get a 4 high by 1 wide grid. think it's something to do with my floats and clear both with a <br> in CSS..I have tried everything I can think of, the sites are fine in IE 6/7..Some of the text formatting and the navigation fonts are in different places..
Here's...

Hi, a few (3) questions for the Java experts, and let me know if this is the right forum. It deals with 100% java code (reason for posting here) but manages a Web browser with Javascript. Thanks in advance for responding. I have made a stub of the codes for better understanding.
Situation: I have a Java servlet (HelloWorldServlet) running on a Tomcat (5.5.26) server on a Linux machine (compiled in JDK1.4.2). It writes Javascript to construct...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
