It was all good when a few days ago, I started getting this error on my
Windows 2000 Professional SP4 box when trying to start IIS 5.5.
"The service did not respond to the start or control request in a
timely fashion."
I have .NET v1.1 and so I googled for this error. I got a few links,
one of which, from the MS KB suggested that I install .NET v1.1 SP 1. I
found I already had SP1 for .NET v1.1. However, I downloaded it again

Being a newbie on C# managed services, I've probably done something horribly
wrong here...
The intent is to create a windows service that runs under the SYSTEM
account. I have created a service according to available examples in MSDN,
and I have used the Installutil.exe to install the service on my PC.
The OnStart method is still completely empty, I'd like to get the base
running before I start to build the solution.

I have created a .Net service in 2.0 and running it on a machine that
has a Quad Processor.
It is failing with the following error.
"Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control

This is what I saw in event Viewer.

Hi all,
I am having one windows service which is updating to database.
On 'Onstop i want to wait till current updation complete. How will i
do this?
Because if i write some lengthy code on onstop it fails to stop and
status remain 'stopping' Later i can't do anything on that service
even i can't uninstall that service.
