I am building several (common) db-driven intranet sites (so I cant
post URL), using a 3-frame layout; header, menu & main pages. The
styling and some of the positioning is done via CSS.
Up until yesterday, I had incomplete Doctypes in my pages:
<!doctype html public "-//w3c//dtd html 4.01 transitional//en">
But now I have the...

My wife's friend had a website built for his company, and it looks great
using a PC.
When viewed on a Mac using either Safari or Explorer the formatting is
terrible. The home page is not too bad, however, any of the other pages
selected have large spaces between paragraphs.
I know to compare different browers when building a website but...

I wrote a webservice to output a report file. The fields of the report
are formatted based on information in an in-memory XmlDocument. As
each row of a SqlDataReader are looped through, a lookup is done, and
format information retrieved.
The performance was extremely poor -- producing about 1000 rows per minute.
However, when I used...

I have searched the forums for an answer to this problem but cannot
find something that works just well.
I'm building a C# ASP.NET application, in which I have "class library"
DLLs. I have problems compiling because the DLLs are locked (by the
w3wp.exe process as far as I know). On my development environment, I
don't care to just launch the...

Hi,
I recently downloaded source code for 8.0.0 beta1. When I tried building the libpq for windows, I got some compilation errors. Following the compilation output:

I've been trying to get this piece to work for a few hours, but have
given up. I hope someone out there can help, I think the issue is
relatively straightforward, but being a novice, I'm stumped. Below you
will find the code I've written and the error that results. I'm hoping
that someone can give me some direction as to what syntax or...

Dear all,
after logging on to the VSS database I got some problems when loading
up Visual Studio. (it would sometimes time out loading System.web;

We recently moved our large codebase over from VS7 to 8 and found that
we now get access violations in atexit calls at shutdown when
debugging the application in VS2005.
This occurs in static members / singletons (especially meyer type
singletons) which use locally declared static variables. These
variables are normally cleaned up...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it. ...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then...
