A problem with a css/javascript drop down menu

The menu at:
http://www.alsacreations.com/article...nt/cssmenu.htm
does exactly what I want, except:
If you leave a menu (and submenu) by going _down_ to the next menu the
first does not close. If you exit the menu to the right side it does.
Is this a Mozilla bug (1.5) , or a desired effect of the css ?
IF neither, how can I make the menu close when I leave the submenu on
the bottom ?

The problem is the same if you leave the submenu from the side. The
only way the menu closes is if you leave the main menu to the top or
side, eg, not through the submenu.

Using Opera 7.22, the main problem I see is that if you leave the first
submenu vertically, you end up popping up the *third* submenu rather than
the second, apparently because you're now hovering over the spot where the
third submenu would have been if the first hadn't popped up. You don't
seem to be accounting for the displacement that occurs when a menu pops up.

Further: others have tested this with Opera and MSIE and they say it is
not a problem with those browsers (although a different problem is
reported with Opera). If anyone can suggest a workaround for the
problems I would be appreciative.
