Sizing background image?

Hello,
I have a background repeating image

<table style="backgrou nd-image:
url('../images/KJV-BAND_SLICED_03. gif');" ...

Is there any way I can specify the size of this image? OBviously, the
size it displays at is its default. Is the only answer that I'll have
to use an image editor to scale the actual file down?

Thanks for your advice, - Dave

Slicing up images is bad practice.

I hope that the image is a computer generated drawing type, if it's a
photograph type image then the gif format is unsuitable.

In CSS: yes.
In HTML you should also use an image editor.

I'm wrestling with how to align images with text. The particular effect I'm trying to achieve at the moment is to place a heading to the right of an image, such that the image and text are vertically centred with each other, regardless of how the user has their fonts set up(1). See http://www.trawna.com/test/header1.html for some examples of what I've tried. IE6/Win shows the second one how I want it, but Opera 7.23 and Mozilla 1.0...

I've got some CSS that looks like this: body { margin: 0; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 140.01%; color: #000000; } but IE won't apply the font size to text in table cells so I've had to

Hi, this has certainly been discussed within W3C, but I'd like to give my humble comment here, too... Using the current (CSS compliant) width/height handling it is not possible to easily add full width background to any block element. Currently, I'm responsible for adding a coloured background around headers for certain customers. The header background should be coloured and "width:

Considering the code below. Adapting this part of the code from meyerweb.com to my own use, I was playing around with some values and came up with an interesting result I like. Copy and paste the code and try it out and you'll see what I mean. The problem is, somehow in the coding, my thumbnails can not be presented as they are given. The dimensions of the thumbnails are totally dependent upon the fixed value of the height in the first...

I am having some problems with getting an .gif file to display properly on an ASPX page. The image appears grainy and distorted. I have tried implementing the image (stored in several formats) using the img tag as pure HTML and adding the image to an ImageButton control. In both cases, I have supplied the appropriate width and height information for the .gif file. In neither case, does the image seem to appear correctly --- the output...

If I take a look at a site that has a heirarchical directory structure (e.g. http://www.treemenu.org/), then on the left there are always(?) some small images on the left, corresponding to '+', '-', '|-', and '|_'. By abutting these, you get a "pretty" "tree" representation. However, if the user alters their font size (especially to a larger size) from what the site designer figured, then these images will no longer lie flush/close to...

I've got a page with a menu div that is 1066px wide by 150px high. And then I have some images that are 150px by 150px for the menu items. I put the images in a table that is set to 150x150px with a 1px border around the table, and around each cell in the table. For some reason though, a space is appearing inside the table, below the images. I've made the menu div background color red, so that it is obvious what's happened. I've also resized...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
