XHTML Basic with Handheld CSS samples?

I'm looking for samples which make use of the XHTML Basic doctype and
handheld CSS. Anybody know some good URLs which use plain CSS to layout
the page (as opposed to many graphics)?

I want to test with Nokia 6600.

DOCTYPE is different, but: <http://hixie.ch/tests/adhoc/css/media/handheld/>

it is not picking up the "media hendheld". Anyone know why?
Thanks

Okay, you are all so smart in here. Answer me this: IE6 in standards mode doesn't seem to hide scrollbars on the body element (overflow:hide) Ain't this a quandary. I have it in my head that I need to specify html instead. The scrollbars do hide on Gecko browsers though, so there is definitely a disagreement among browser developers on how to implement scrollbars (as a side note, Gecko browsers with their notoriously bug-ridden...

I've tested some of the new Nokia 6600 functionality. It ships with WAP2 and XHTML Support (it says). What it does is check the Doctype -- if it's not the XHTML Mobile Profile Doctype, but a XHTML1.0 Strict one, the media-handheld CSS is _ignored_. Only with the Nokia Doctype, the CSS is used. I find this really annoying as it goes against the whole idea of media-independent XHTML Strict along with stylesheets. On the good side, WML...

Hi all, I am currently fooling around trying to produce a very basic webpage that can be shown on both computer screens and Nokia series 60 GSM cell phones featuring an XHTML browser. (XHTML-MP | XHTML Mobile Profile) I found XHTML-MP to be the W3C XHTML-Basic + WML extensions, that is why I have chosen to base a web page on XHTML Basic 1.0 Doing that I am running into the following problem: Nokia phones do not support the media...

Hi I am considering compilling a list of XHTML complient websites that can be fully accessable using a handheld device that relies on standard coding. Does anybody know if such a directory already exists? Please reply with links to sites that meet this criteria. Im looking for sites that would be of use to individuals such as online stores,

I am going to teach a basic Web design course (fundamentals of HTML/CSS, plus some basic client-side (JavaScript) and server-side (PHP, perhaps XSLT) scripting). Most of the students do not have any previous knowledge of all of this. I am strongly considering teaching XHTML 1.0 Strict instead of HTML 4.01 strict, for the following reasons: - XML syntax is far more simple to teach than HTML/SGML, simply because there are not as many...

This page http://homepage.ntlworld.com/r.a.mccartney/test/utf-8_test_file_hacked_for_ie_with_local_dtd.xml doesn't work properly in Firefox or IE6. The faults are different. In Firefox the TestText entity is not recognised. In IE6, the <br /> tag doesn't cause a line break. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

English Wikipedia allows registered users to define custom styles. I created a set of styles inside a @media handheld wrapper to see if I could override the default absolute positionings and floats of the major page elements in IE on my Sony Treo with Windows Mobile 5. Without the custom CSS, on both the regular computer and the handheld, the content's beginning is offset from the top and left, and on the handheld it only takes up a...

Here's what I'm trying to do. First I export an existing table to a .txt file and move it to a handheld computer, it is then added to a database on that handheld. Data is inputted into the handheld, when all data is inputted the data is exported to another .txt file and transfered to the main computer. What I want to do is update the table on the main computer with the data that has been collected on the handheld. I know I could load the...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
