can an HTML form write to a text file?

I'd like to know if an HTML form page can be made to
output to a text file on the same computer.
The references that I've consulted only discuss the
GET and POST actions communicating with the
server, but I'd like to write to an existing file on the
browser's same machine.

TIA,
J.

Fortunately, no. Just consider the consequences...

PS. Yes he did spam the list. No, two wrongs don't make a right...
Maybe he can redeem himself by trying to be helpful?

Does anyone know of a program that will read a text file and fill in a web form with the contents of that file? We need to get about 3000 records (5 fields to each record) into a database owned by another company and the only way it can be done (according to them) is to enter them one at a time into a web form. We can get the records into a comma or tab separated text file and would like to just read the file and auto insert the fields...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
