Are meta tags case sensitive?

Are meta tags case sensitive or does case sensitivity vary depending on
the search engine a user is using?

I've read that some search engines care about case wrt meta tags (for
keywords in particular) and I've read that other search engines aren't
case sensitive. Is this true? Is there a listing of which search engines
pay attention to case and which don't?

I have also read that some search engines throw away pages that repeat
keywords in the keywords meta tag. (So that if I include multiple
entries, using varying case, for the same word, some search engines
might ignore my page.) Is this true?

Most importantly, I guess I'm wondering whether there's a standard
regarding case in meta tags? I couldn't find anything definitive, but I
could just be mis-searching. (Maybe I searched using the wrong case. :-)

Thanks for any information.

What's so special about the <head> of a document? Why do you think
search engines would treat case differently in <head> and <body>?

AltaVista had always offered you a search for capital letters:
http://altavista.com/web/results?kgs=0&kls=0&q=htm
http://altavista.com/web/results?kgs...=0&q=%22Htm%22
http://altavista.com/web/results?kgs...=0&q=%22HTM%22
AllTheWeb and Google ignore case.
I have also read that some search engines throw away pages that repeat
keywords in the keywords meta tag.
AllTheWeb, AltaVista, and Google ignore <meta name="keywords" >
alltogether like (probably) most search engines.
MSN is known to index it but I don't know of any limitations.

No. Just write your words in ordinary spelling as you would do in
the <body>.

Are html tags allowed within meta tags? Specifically, if I have html tags within a <definition> tag within XML, can I use the definition as the content within the <meta content="description> tag? If not, is there an easy way to strip the html tags from the <definition> content before inserting the content into the meta tag?

I can't understand the warning I'm getting from the W3C validator. Here it is, along with the source code that it is not fully satisfied with. What meta-tags should I be including? Here is the warning I got from the W3C validator. Note: The HTTP Content-Type header sent by your web browser (unknown) did not contain a "charset" parameter, but the Content-Type was one of the XML text/* sub-types (text/xml). The relevant specification...

Web Authoring | Meta-Tags The first thing to understand in regard to Meta Tags is the three most important tags placed in the head of your html documents. They are the title, description, and keyword meta-tags. If you are missing any of these meta-tags you are missing the boat. If you use the following meta-tag formula, and you are not trying to deceive the spiders, I guarantee you will succeed in increasing your placement in the...

Hi, I'm working within an application (making a lot of wrappers), but the application is not case sensitive. For example, Typing obj.name, obj.Name, or even object.naMe is all fine (as far as the app is concerned). The problem is, If someone makes a typo, they may get an unexpected error due accidentally calling the original attribute instead of the wrapped version. Does anyone have a simple solution for this?

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
