I want to do a very simple thing in Windows. (Using Python Shell.)
I want to write a prompt to sys.stdout and read the user input.
(Ideally, without waiting for a newline.)
Here are the problems I'm encountering. Newbie problems, no doubt.
sys.stdin.read() gives me an attribute error
sys.stdin.readline() doesn't block waiting for...

Hi,
Could anyone tell me whether I can find a non blocking alternative to
raw_input that works on windows? Is there not a python way of achieving
this? Can I find it somewhere in the documentation?
Any help will be highly appreciated
Cheers

Ok, this is gonna sound really stupid, and I doubt it's possible, but
is there any way to make a program that'll stop you from typing
certain words? People are complaining that I type lol too much
(especially my gf...lol ), and I also could use it for
other things (which I shall not name here)so...is it somehow possible?

Hello,
I couldn't find a solution to the following problem (tried
google and dejanews), maybe I'm using the wrong keywords?
Is there a way to open a file (a linux fifo pipe actually) in
nonblocking mode in c++? I did something ugly like
--- c/c++ mixture ---
mkfifo( "testpipe", 777);

Hi,
I'm using a non-blocking connect to connect to a server.
Works fine -- the server gets and accepts the connection.
However, once the connection is established, I cannot
retrieve either the local or the remote endpoint from
the client-side socket.
The *really* strange thing is that Socket.LocalEndPoint is null.
According to the doc,...

Hi
I have a web app that has a legitimate use for pop up windows. My web app is
an insurance quoting app. I use the window.open method to display another
aspx page so that the user can check some information without losing where
they are up to in the application process.

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it. ...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For...
