Hi all, some users on our network are having difficulty opening Powerpoint
files via the Web. I've read the article "In-Place Activation Using Internet
Explorer 5 Does Not Work for PowerPoint Slides" at this location:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;EN-US;q290180. However,
following the guidelines of the article has not resolved the issue. Our
users have Windows 2K, XP Pro, Internet Explorer 5.5 and 6.0. Thank you.

Help!
I am trying to create a webpage and it would be obvious to anyone who
reads my source code (it's a mess) that I created it using a template.
I know almost nothing about webpages, but am happy with all but a few
bugs in my page.
I have read many posts about opening drop-downs in new windows, and
have spent hours looking over my source code to see what I have done
wrong.

Howdy,
I've got here a sample of my function which is supposed to fade a
certain piece of text to another colour. This line is then located in a
for loop and it works pretty well in IE 6. However, in Firefox, and thus
I assume it will be the same in Netscape and Mozilla, it gives a problem
with the: getElementById('main_txt'). Due to that in setTimeout("",) it
requires the "" signes and thus I can not use the same ones in the
getElement...

Hi everybody
Wonder if you could help me out.
I created a simple JavaScript routine to enable a user to click backwards
and forwards between small news articles. This routine works fine in IE and
Safari, but in the latest FireFox I get no title or article, but do see the
prev and next links and the article number.
My HTML and JS simple routine is as follows:

I have an ASP.NET (VB) app that I created for the Windows and IE6
enviroment. When it runs under Firefox on Windows it looks similar but has
some display issues. When I run it under Firefox on Linix it has the same
issues as Firefox on Windows, plus it has font display issues.
I have only worked with Windows and IE6 and haven't tried supporting
additional browsers or systems on this website. Does anyone have any
suggestions on how to...

I retrieve the response of a XMLHttpRequest and depending if I use
safari or firefox I can't manage to get characters like "éàç"
to see an illustration you can try the code below :
(with this code I get a "é" with firefox but not with safari. I need to
add a ut8_decode to get the "é"!)

Hi all. I apologize since this is only remotely Python related, but I
hope someone might now the solution.
I tried opening my Python chm docs just now, as well as the one for
wxPython, and both are giving me an error dialog when I double-click
them and I can't open them. This happened apparently for no reason, just
today. I even reset but that didn't help.
Does anyone know what might cause this, and if it could affect the rest
of...

I have a C# application (2005 .Net) which will loop thru files in a directory
and read Excel files (currently using Excel 11). There are usually multiple
Excel files in the directory. Up until a few weeks ago, it was working fine.
Now, when the the Open method is called, most of the time it returns a Null
value. If I stop the application and start it back up, it is usually able to
open up the file it had failed on before. I added in a...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
