I have downloaded a Joomla template for a new site and made the changes I want, and have no problems at all in Firefox. However, in IE, the layout takes up the whole page.
To clarify: I have specifically chosen a template that shows the background tile between the different boxes/elements/components (not sure what they're called - the individual bits or blocks that make up the site!) In IE, however, the "gaps" between these are not consistent - for one thing, the wide outside edge is absent. Then the centre "column" seems to stretch over to the right, and the two little modules up top also stretch so there is little space between them.
The CSS does allow for a separate IE7 template, but there is very little in it: - #content {
-
padding:0;
-
width: 96%;
-
}
-
#top {
-
width: 96%;
-
margin:0 0 10px 0;
-
}
-
#user_modules1 {
-
width: 96%;
-
margin:0 0 10px 0;
-
}
I've tried adding the different "sections", changing margins, setting the width in pixels... nothing makes any difference at all! I'm really happy with the Firefox look and would like that in IE too. Maybe I'm being picky, but that's who I am, it's just gotta be RIGHT!
I'd really appreciate some assistance with this if someone has the patience to help out a novice... the url for the site is: http://www.westvillefamilychurch.co.za
Thanks so much,
Jude

The problem is that Internet Explorer just isn't a modern browser and we all have problems with it. However, fix your HTML and CSS errors first and see where we stand.
Oh golly gosh! I assumed that since it was a "pre-created" template, with me only really changing the images, that it would be fine... I'll sift through the long list and see if I can make head or tail of it all...
Thanks,
jude
Hi there - I've scooted along and had a look, with view source and HTML tidy... quite nifty that! Only problem is that the source and corrected code doesn't match my "edit html" template at all As this is a Joomla site and template, would it be something in the Joomla code?
I'd appreciate it if you could point me in the right direction here...
Thanks,
Jude
Hi there - I've managed to resolve the HTML and CSS issues, and the IE is still an issue - worse actually, since I cannot remember where I put the .foo thingie so now sidebar images vanish and reappear in a very disturbing way! I'd be grateful if someone could assist...

Jude

Hi,
I need those ASP gurus out there.
I am developing a web site that should display different layout for
different languages.
For example, the label layout for Japanese,English and Chinese will be
different.
For the label content - I understand that it is best using resources
that are culture dependent.
But what about the layout?
How can I change the layout according to the language?

Hello,
In classic ASP, I used to use two include files on each page, one before
and one after the main content, to provide a consistent layout across a
web site. That way I could just change the include files to change the
layout. When I came to ASP.NET, I used user controls to do a similar
thing.
I have just been looking at master pages, and it looks like they do the
same thing. If so, is there any advantage in using them over the...

Hi folks,
Just a quick post to see if anyone had any thoughts on branding a
website for completely different website designs. I have a site at the
minute that gets installed with another application on customers
networks. It's ASP.NET 2.0 but written in a combination of old ASP.NET
1.1, AJAX with/and "heavy" use of client side javascript throughout the
site.
But, it now turns out that this needs to have a different branding (and
a...

Please check out my javascript library that allows you to create any
layout for your web page, nested as deep as you like, adjusting to
width and height of a browser window. You just describe it in
javascript object and that's all. No need to know CSS hacks, no need
to clutter your html with tables.

Hi,
Can a single GridView be 'connected' to DetailsView that renders itself
differently based on the currently selected row?
I have a GridView with rows that could be displayed in the same way in the
view (like a report) but when a user wants to edit/insert items I'd like to
show a different layout and different controls based on the
selected item type. For example, for some items I'd like to provide text
boxes and for others I'd like...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
