This problem has annoyed me for a while and I'm finally trying to search a solution for it. Any help is appreciated.

the only shift I encounter is due to the appearing scrollbar (home page has none because it’s too short)

tested FF 3.6/darwin

Ah, of course. Divs are centered so scrollbar affects them. Is there a way to diminish the effect of scrollbar to centered divs? Or I could always make longer home page.

I have two DIVs with the same class in the same document. The CSS has the DIVs absolutely positioned, albeit with a percentage (bottom: 0%). Shouldn't the DIVs be in the exact same location instead of one above the other, since they're using the same class and hence the same position? -- Richard

Is there any way to work around the blank space created by hidden divs? I'm trying to use a relatively postioned divs with show/hide behaviors to annotate an image. The divs show/hide onMouseOver/onMouseOut but leave a blank space on the page when hidden (the space where the divs would normally be). Is it possible to use z-indexing to put regular content where the hidden divs would be? When I try to do this, the layers don't unhide as...

I have 2 rectangle images. 1 with a box in the upper left corner and the other with a box in the lower right hand corner. Both images are the same size. I would like to display these 2 images so that it looks like 1 image by overlapping them using css. I have tried creating a seperate div for each image and setting the top/left the same on both and changing the layer on each. This only made the 2nd one display directly below the first...

I would like to have a page that has some images arrange around the center. The idea is to design it for 800 wide and just allow the margins to grow on larger displays. Here is a link to an image that is what I would like, the words around the picture would be separate image in the final: www.nyccure.com/goal.html This works:

I`m writing a pattern machine in JS. I use small (20-50px) dynamicly created divs (100-200) and use loops to place them in predefined patterns. I assign style props to them at creation time. Problem: When assigning a background image to the style object of the divs, it takes 10 - 12 seconds before they are displayed on screen. For now I`ve used the same image (2kB) for all

I'm experimenting with converting a site from a table layout to CSS. I'm floating three DIVs in a row for the top of a website (a logo, navigation buttons and a email list signup box). The DIVs have a grey background. When I view the page in Firefox, I get what I hoped for: there is a solid grey rectangle at the top of the website. When I view the page in Internet Explorer 6 (WinXP), there is a gap between two right hand DIVs (i.e. a...

hi, I need to swap divs.. I know how to do this very well when the divs are positioned absolutely and thus they are "on top of" each other with z-index, etc... but now at work I have to do this w/divs that are not positioned absolutely, they use two very large js files here for it (swapTabs.js and prototype.js.. in case they sound familiar to anyone..) and every time I have a hard time implementing it.. I was wondering if somebody

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
