Problem with aligning menu text and expand image correctly

35 New Member
Hello,

I have an "accordion menu" where I want the structure to be like this for a menu item with "children" who are supposed to drop down when an "expand image" is clicked:
Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
  1. <li>
  2.     <span>some text</span>
  3.     <img src="the_expand_image.gif" />
  4. </li>
Now, for each menu item like that I want to align the span to the left, and the img to the right in my <li>. I haven't been able to find a cross-browser solution, setting float:left and float:right respectively doesn't work in older versions of IE (with compatibility view in IE8). I've also tried putting divs around the items and displaying the whole thing as a table (display:table, display:table-cell), but without success (maybe I'm doing that wrong, since I feel it SHOULD work) in IE.

So, pros, how would you do it? :)

Thanks!

Not sure if this is what you mean but floating the image right alone doesn't do what you want?

It is, put simply, exactly what i WANT to do.
But doing this messes up the size of the <li> in IE7.
I need it to be exactly 30px high, and for some reason it becomes a few pixels higher than that if I do float:right on the image?

I'm developing a web application, that has a left-sided navigation menu and a centre-right content area. The menu is static and therefore is in an INCLUDEd file. I'm wanting to add a link to a context-sensitive help page, and I'd like it to appear beneath the menu on the left-hand side. However, I'm not sure how to get it to do this... Also, the menu uses Javascript to expand and contract each menu section, so this Help link would need...

I have a Tkinter app running on cygwin. It includes a Test menu item that does nothing more than fetch a directory listing and display it in a Toplevel window (I'd use a tkMessageBox showinfo widget, but for some reason the text is invisible on cygwin). After I close the Toplevel widget, all of the menus in my app behave as though they have no contents to them, i..e I can press on the File menu button, and see it depress, but the Exit...

I have a news section of the website contained within the updatepanel. What I want is that when a news summary is clicked, the news item opens up in that same box. I thought I wired everything up correctly so that it did not do a postback. But when I walked through the execution process, it in fact does cause a postback when the "expand" event is raised. Why does this happen? Can someone help me? Thanks. Here is the .aspx part

I have this code used for the navigation on an HTML page. It's an accordion style dropdown menu. Everything works fine I just need to change it so that the submenuheader class allows it to be a clickable link. Right now all that happens with for example Home has two submenus of About Us and Quality. When you click home it expands the dropdown. But I want it to expand and also direct to a Home page. thanks in advance! var ddaccordion={...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
