I have been trying to set the default text value of a TextArea element
for about a day now without any luck.
Similar to the code used to set the Text field below I would like to
use the returned (for lack of a better term) value in a TextArea
element ie. {TITLE}.
this works:

Hi,
I am trying to retrieved the value of the textarea with the newline
preserved without having to submit the form to the server. Does anyone
knows how to? I tried soft and hard wrap but both does not seems to
affect the input in anyway.
Example :

Here is what I want to do, if possible.
I have a reservation form, where one value (credit card number) needs to be run through an encryption script then get posted to the DB where all of the other fields do not need encryption. Everything is posting over just fine right now to the DB. I would like to encrypt the CC# with the script at the bottom of the page. I got the script from PHPCLASSES.ORG

Hi,
I have a text-area which contains values from mysql database and 2
buttons, Edit and Update.
When I click on the Edit button, I can edit the text-area
(initially non-editable).
After this, if I click on the Update button, the values in the
text-area must be updated in the mysql database.
I am storing the values of the text-area in a variable. I am using
javascript to pass the variable.

I have never had a textarea content change, in any browser.
On several different projects.
With javascript enabled (other stuff works.)
I have read lots, and everyone says it should work.
Can anyone tell my what's wrong with the following code?
(I was trying to create a simple demo example.
The alerts are there just to help find out where it fails.
