International developers/designers, could you check to see my app's time zone works? thks

Hi all,

I have this simple time management tool designed and developed. And
based on a very thoughtful and kind Frenchman's input I've extended
its support to international (support all time zones), however, I'm
not 100% sure if its global time zone support is perfectly correct.
Please try it and offer feedback, URL, http://www.mytata.net/

tia.

Since that page is headed "11/04/2007 (EDT)", you are obviously not
competent to write in an international medium.

EDT is used in (at least) Australia and America; and the date could be
either 11th April or November 4th.

It's not clear whether that is intended to be the current date or the
date of editing.

If you are only interested in serving the US market, then say so,
clearly. If you want to serve internationally , then do it correctly -
use International Standard ISO 8601 date formats and indicate
differences from GMT/UTC, if needed, numerically.

You have a drop-down for Time Zone. Consider the GMT-6 entry, marked
CST. But CST is only used in the winter. It has entries for GMT-12 to
GMT+12, hourly. That's not very nice for those offset from GMT by a
non-integer number of hours - don't you need to be nice to such as Iran,
Afghanistan, Venezuela, Newfoundland, India, Nepal, and those in the
Very Far East at GMT+14?

Nope. I'm in the Central time zone (the one in North America, that is).
Yesterday morning, we here in the US went off of Daylight Savings Time
and back to Standard Time (except in Arizona and Indianapolis, which
are always on Standard Time).

Even though my correct time zone code is now "CST", your page tells
me that it's "EDT". Is it coincidental that both CST and EDT have
the same off-set from UTC?

Thanks, Michael, am glad that I check back on this thread, not
updating EDT to EST was an oversight. Some one blew it into nonsense,
even political sort of flame, unnecessary.

Potential users should note that not only are the site maintainers
incompetent, but that they also whine petulantly when their failings are
pointed out.
Their page <http://web.mytata.net: 8000/myTA/fails Opera Ctrl-Alt-V
validation (that is, of course, W3); the first error is fatal to
validation.

Just fancy having a DOCTYPE with unmatched quotes! That prevents
further validation; but fixing it reveals a further 21 errors.

The time zone drop-down still has only integer offsets in -12..+12.

Hi. Our company has about 20 application developers/architects and one certified dba. Our developers both design the databases and build the applications. We're confused about what permissions a developer is supposed to have. On the one hand, we obviously don't want developers to have privileges like shutting down the db. On the other hand, some of the Oracle tools, like Change Management Pack, are things that our developers need to run....

Hi, I`m trying to do date calculations in three types of time zones: local, GMT and specified. The issue I am facing is that I need to be able to specify a date in the proper time zone, and I`m having a heck of a time doing so. I have created a form where I use drop downs do specify year, month, date, hour, minute and seconds. When the form is loaded, the dropdowns have to display the proper values for the current time zone type. This

My company is about to begin working on an ASP.NET application. There are going to be two primary developers working on this project. It will be a fairly deep project (lots of lines of code) but not a very wide project (pretty much limited to a few purposes, not many ways to split it up). I've done alot of ASP.NET development before by myself so writing the application shouldn't be an issue, but my question is this: How do multiple...

If you click Continue, the application will ignore this...

Hi, I have windows app written in Borland C++ Builder 5.0. Using ODBC driver windows app connects to database on linux server. Database is created with UNICODE encoding. When pg-server is version 7.1.3 windows app works fine, but when pg-server is version 7.4.6 or 8.0beta4 under certain conditions the app receives strings with wrong lengths. For example: the database contains table "issue" with the following structure:

I'd like to open a discussion about the state of the industry. For the past year, I've been unable to find competent Access developers available for hire. I'm worried about that. I think there's great demand right now, and that's keeping the good developers busy, but that's not enough to explain the situation. Whenever I post an Access job, I get lots of responses from .NET developers, back-end database people, and web developers. They...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers.
