How Do I Center a Background Image in Firefox?

9 New Member
Please tell me how I center a background image in Firefox (2.0.0.7)?

The following code places any image in the top part of the browser:

body
{
margin-left: 0px;
margin-top: 0px;
margin-right: 0px;
margin-bottom: 0px;
background-repeat: no-repeat;
background-attachment: scroll;
background-position: center center;
background-image: url(url)
}

Thank you very much.

The same way you center an image in all standard browsers.
Does this page have any content? Or are you giving the body a height?

The page does have content, but this sheet places background image incorrectly even on a blank page in Firefox and Opera (v. 9.23):

<style type="text/css">
body
{
margin-left: 0px;
margin-top: 0px;
margin-right: 0px;
margin-bottom: 0px;
background-repeat: no-repeat;
background-attachment: scroll;
background-position: center center;
background-image: url(http://www.thescripts. com/images/logo4.gif)
}
</style>

Internet Explorer (v. 7.0.5730.11) shows the image as expected though.

Never, ever use Internet Explorer as an example of something that works. It is old, buggy and non-standard.

Showing the CSS is only half the picture. Need to see the html. Your css is working as expected in Firefox for me.

Hi, I have found an issue when comparing Firefox with IE6 (Windows) where a page links to a css file that is in it's own directory. IE6 URL property of the background css element uses the location of the css file as the root when looking for the background image. Firefox uses the location of the page that links the css as the root for the background image. This css will work for Firefox :

Hello fellows, i would like to center a 800px wide 600px high content area without using frames. I have "come up" with the following solution so far. It works under IE 6.0, Firefox 1 (under Windows and Linux) but not under Konqueror (could not test Safari, but they have the rendering engine in common (see www.kde.org)): <pre>

Hi, I'm trying to do something that has always been easy with tables - namely use a three column layout, and above the main layout, show three images - one on the absolute left, one on the absolute right, and one in the middle. The one in the middle needs to be centered, as various browsers display slightly differently. However, using the CSS and code below, either the first image is not shown (IE) or the right image is shown below...

Hi, I am trying to change the background of table TD's. The problem is that I have no access to the HTML code. SO I am trying to alter this using Javascript/DOM in an external .js file. I have tried lot's of things and spent hours on this, I thought I might give it a try here. One of the TD's uses HTML to set the background, the other one uses CSS styling:

I HATE DIVS AND DIFFERENT BROWSERS!!! i spent the whole day and night searching for a way to center align stupid divs, the problem is that the code is so sensitive, i lost my mind trying to make them work in a certain way (like some should scroll with a fixed background and others shouldn't scroll bla bla..) and the divs are nested and positioned in different ways and if i change something it gets messed up and what works in in IE doesn't work...

I'm trying to center this banner, it's in a div that has the same width so it's not exactly "centering" but it's screwed up, It works in safari but in Firefox it's messed up. I uploaded a Video to show what I'm talking about. http://screencast.com/t/i5SLg3cAczH (*WARNING, TAKES A WHILE TO LOAD*) *HTML* <html> <head> <title>James Mann - Portfolio</title>

I've found that for IE6+, if you add the property text-align:center to a DIV, then *anything* inside it gets centered. That can be a table, an object/embed, another DIV, an image, or some text. Firefox and Safari on the other hand don't treat text-align in that way. In my tests on those browsers, they only centers images and text. Any DIVs, object/embeds or tables remain default unaligned and generally appear on the left. Considering...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
