Scrollable Image Area (<div> positioning problems)

4 New Member
I'm trying to create a scrollable text/image area using javascript and css. The found a script which I thought was working properly. The following link contains the script:

http://simplythebest.net/scripts/DHT...script_59.html

I'm having two problems. First, my scrollable image and custom arrows are not moving with the site when the browser is resized. Also, when you scroll down using the custom arrow...the scroll bar on the browser appears, then disappears(in firefox, the scrollbar disappears completely). The height of the page does not call for scrollbars on the browser.

The following link is a test page with what I described:

http://8x8design.net/test/test.html

I'm fairly new to all this so any help would be appreciated. This is one of the few scripts I found which work for my situation. I wouldn't mind looking at other suggestions if they're out there.

Thanks ahead of time,

Tony

You have 13 html errors and 2 css errors. Validate both for those lists.
Your doctype is incomplete. See the article about doctypes under Articles above.

This really is a JavaScript question. I have a site that looks fine in everything but NN4. I'm afraid I don't have a URL, because the site is very much unfinished. The site is a header (which is a table) and a main <div> underneath that. The main <div> is set to have a top margin of 3%, which works fine, except in NN4. There, it looks like it has a margin of 20%, or even larger. I couldn't fix it with the @import hack, so I thought I...

I've designed some hp for a friend's wedding relying completely on absolute positioning of all elements using CSS. However, the only browser that displayed it properly was IE 6.0 so I went back to business as usual designing the layout using tables with some additional CSS tags. Now the page looks as intended on almost any current browser, only Firebird is behaving somewhat strangely. I suspect the same problem will occur with Mozilla...

I am trying to adjust the window/table size of a website (www.worklaw.co.za) which has made use of DIV tags with its settings embedded in an CSS file. The client wants its width and height to adjust according to dynamic screen size, and I have been able to adjust the width to a percentage value which works fine. But if I try do the same with the height it shows some very strange results squashing the field to display about 3 lines.

I'm sure I've got this working before, but I always forget how to do it, because CSS isn't intuitive in this case. I got a simple 2 column layout: <div id="container"> <div id="left"> </div> <div id="right"> </div>

Hi all I have a javascript function that drags and drops an element (ie img) into a container (ie bordered div). The function works and returns the element and and container. My next step is to center the element in the container if the user is sloppy with positioning it. I can only test this on IE6 and IE5.5 and it fails. It positions the element too much right and low. Here is the function: function SnapToContainer(Container,El) {

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
