I have a web page that uses an unordered list (<UL>) and the LH (list
header) tag. I know LH is a valid tag because it is clearly defined by
the W3C here: http://www.w3.org/MarkUp/html3/bulletlists.html
The problem is, when I try to validate the page at W3C, it tells me:
" element "LH" undefined "
My page is 4.01 Transitional, using charset windows-1252.
Any ideas why this won't validate?

Hi,
I am working on a dotnet url rewriting mechanism that has to be able to deal
with urls containing non-standard characters, eg
http://www.mysite.com/Télécharger.
The problem is that some browsers will encode this url using utf8 & some
using ISO 8859 (I *think* those are the only two possibilities). For ISO
8859 I can use the built-in UrlDecode function, for utf8 I am using a
function I found on Google groups:

How is it possible that the question "How do I detect which browser
the user has" is missing from this FAQ:
http://www.faqts.com/knowledge_base/index.phtml/fid/125
and is only here on this with a link to old information that suggests
use of "navigator":

I am looking into the different techniques of handling arrays of edit
boxes in
Java Script. The first program below works fine. However, are there
better ways of
doing this, where the person writing the JavaScript doesn't have to
pass the index
in the "onChange" event name.
I thought that one might be able to use "this.value" or compare this as

I am writing a piece of code for an ASP.NET function that generates an
onKeyPress JavaScript eventhandler that uses the event.keyCode / event.which
properties. I have two situations that I would appreciate any advice on:
1. I know that IE uses event.keyCode to get the key pressed. I have,
however, seen sites that some versions of Netscape use event.which and some
versions use event.keyCode. Does anyone know of a site that lists which one...

A Form has a select list which is populated from a MS-Access database
table. The DB table from where the select list is populated has 2
columns - CountryID & CountryName. When the Form is posted, the option
selected in the select list is inserted in another DB table wherein
the column in which the value of the selected option will be populated
accepts only integers. Actually there are 7-8 select lists & the
values of all the selected...

Which is the better approach in working with Javascript?
1. Server side processing: Web server gets form input, runs it into the
Javascript module, and PHP collects the output for document prep.
2. Client side processing: Web server gets form input and passes it to PHP
which includes the Javascript written in a way to make the form input
processed on the client side and rendered (probably using DOM function
calls) on that side as...

How do we get out of the browser infinite loop quicksand when we navigate
to web pages designed to lock us in and force us to hit the "pay me" button
(whatever they want to force you to do)?
These are just a sample of nasty quicksand web pages I've run into which
lock your browser into a loop and won't let you get out until you hit the
"install" or "run" or "OK" button... (whatever it is they want you to do).

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...
