Hello,
I have a webpage that looks fine when using IE 6.0, but when I view it
through Firefox, it doesn't look right at all. Do you think it has to
do with the css stuff?
The part that is messed up is the graphics and a little text also. 7 1873

It's impossible to tell, since you didn't post a URL.
In general, try validating your code - errors in markup are often handled
differently from one browser to another.

That's strange. I have a page that looks fine when using SeaMonkey 1.1;
but when I view it using IE 7.0, it doesn't look right at all.
What's different about your problem and mine is that I'm giving the URL.
It's <http://www.rossde.com/>.
With SeaMonkey, the "Statistics " sidebar is to the right of text about
my daughter receiving a solicitation from American Express. With IE,
the text is below the sidebar.

90% of the time it will be IE that is lying to you, never mind that it
looks "right" to you. Designing to look "right" for a broken browser is
an exercise in futility.

Many of your css declarations could be either combined or removed: parts
of your stylesheet are also over-constraining. I checked your sidebar
right code and I believe all you have to do is to remove the width: 90%
from your .quote rule (and maybe replace it with text-align: center).

First of all, my message was intended to be facetious.
As for my .quote rule, I want the box to be centered, not the text. The
box should be less than the full width of its parent, following an old
style of doing typed documents with lengthy quotes, in which the quotes
are Italicized and indented from both the left and right margins rather
than in-line within quotation marks.
I fixed the page by moving the paragraph with "class=quot e" ahead of the
sidebar.

I know :)

It can be centered without setting its width.
The
box should be less than the full width of its parent, following an old
style of doing typed documents with lengthy quotes, in which the quotes
are Italicized and indented from both the left and right margins rather
than in-line within quotation marks.
Then
blockquote {font-style: italic; margin-left: 2em; margin-right: 2em;}
fits perfectly your description above.
I fixed the page by moving the paragraph with "class=quot e" ahead of the
sidebar.
Well, I still maintain that you can improve your stylesheet in many
ways, in several areas. Avoiding over-constraining webpage elements in a
stylesheet is often a difficult task and is definitely a webpage design
matter.
I also agree with Jim Moe that <blockquoteis semantically better.

Gérard

I am having a problem viewing a centered table using Firefox. When the

main content right. I thought I had...

We plan on distirbuting the .xml files for our clients to view. So we
uploaded the .xsl file to our webserver (ex:
www.mydomain.com/xml/style.xsl) Then in the .xml files we updated the
style sheet reference from pointing to the local copy to the one on the...

Hi,
I am trying to pop-up a window when the user clicks on an image. The
problem is that when the user clicks on the image and the window pops
up OK, but the window underneath also proceeds to the image. The
desired behavior is that when the pop-up is invoked, I want the
underlying window to stay put.
I don't have this problem when I run the code on my local computer but
I do have it when I run the code on geocities.

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
