I have a problem, im trying to make my mebsite, XHTML 1.0 strict, and im going great, but i need my images to be aligned, touching together.
with regular html, i can just put - <img src="index.html" alt="Home" width="70" height="30">
but since im using XHTML 1.0 Strict i have to end img tags with <img />
so when i make it - <img src="index.html" alt="Home" width="70" height="30" />
the images now have a space inbetween each other.
how do i correct this?
note:
im going to be using external css, and im going to format each image with external css, and im going to just put class="menu" in each image instead of all those html atributes.
is there a css 'cure' for this problem?

The space is not to do with the /> tag ending, it is more likely that you have your images like this
[html]
<img src="index.html " alt="Home" width="70" height="30" />
<img src="index.html " alt="Home" width="70" height="30" />
[/html]and the space appears because you have whitespace between the images, a new line.
You can remove the border on link images with this CSS
[html]
a img {
border: none;
}
[/html]

I have been trying to write a script that will increase the size of
and image when you mouse over it, and decrease it to original size,
when you mouse out. After a couple of attempts, this is what I've come
up with. In this example, there are 5 images (0 thru 4) all with a
height of 80px. When you mouse over an image, it changes the
growingImage variable equal to the number of the image you mouse over,
when you mouse out, it sets it to 5,...

I'm just beginning to get into XHTML, so my experience is rather
limited. I've created a document with a doctype of XHTML 1.0 Strict.
When checking my syntax, I get the following error message:
Document type does not permit element "<img>" in content of element
"<body>".
In HTML 4.01 Transitional this isn't a problem, but it appears to be in
XHTML. What am I doing wrong?

I think this is an easy one, but I have not been able to find it anywhere.
In HTML, I used <center><img src="whatever.gif></center> to horizontally
center a graphic on a page. What is the CSS way of doing the same?
Thanks, Carolyn

Hi all,
I was curious as to how others whom have dealt with this problem have
handled it.
The problem is that I have a site design of a fixed width and height and
want to center that content in the middle of the browser's viewport,
both horizontally AND vertically.
The site I'm building requires that I adhere to the HTML 4.01

I've ended up with what seems like a rather complex structure for what I
thought would be a somewhat simple problem. Even that complex solution
works well only in FireFox (haven't tested Safari...).
Can anyone come up with a better solution, where 'better' means:
- Works as well as the example above, but is simpler.

You can check the Image.complete property; example:
img = new Image(100,100);
interval = setInterval('checkcomplete()', 100);
img.src = 'someimg';
function checkcomplete() {
if (window.complete) {

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
