CSS Layout Multiple Images

Hi, I am a newbie to CSS. My problem at this point has to do with
layout.

I've inherited a website that uses nested tables for the layout of the
page (www.gccnh.com), which I would like to slowly change to use CSS.
My biggest problem at this point is figuring out how to deal with the
multiple images that were used for the background. Most of the table
structure uses something like the following although this is a bit
simplified, and Right Image_top is actually a little larger:

_______________ __Table________ ______________
Left Image_top | Middle Image_top | Right Image_top
----------------------------------------------------_______________
Left Image_mid | Middle Image_mid | Right Image_mid
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The table(s) are centered on the page, which I was able to duplicate
with a container div, but now am not sure how to get the placement of
the images.

I tried setting each image in its own div with the image as the
background and with the float
setting. This worked good for line one, but line 2 disappeared, so I
am getting frustrated. A push in the right direction would be very
much appreciated.

My thanks!

Hi ng, I need some input/suggestions for a very small layout. The situation: Some groupings of thumbnails. For every picture (thumbnail) there is a "big" picture. Thats it basically :) On the front the scenario is this: A user clicks "Autumn". The user is presented with the "Autumn" thumbnails. If he click a thumbnail, the corresponding big image is displayed. I'm trying (once again) to figure out how to make a robust CSS layout style that can replace tables. I'd like to be able to do a basic two-column layout, with a one-column header, a two column body, and a two-column footer. The problem, and one that always sends me back to using tables, is that word "robust." Absolute positioning gets squirrelly, because it takes the positioned elements completely out of the float scheme, and stuff...

I've built a site using tables for layout, and it looks ok in everything but in IE where it places extra space around the graphics that contain a rollover script. (Please see http://www.bentleysweb.com ) Below is a snippet of the table cell in question. How can I eliminate that extra space in IE? Thanks. -Ray

The idea of this is very simle. The site is 800px wide and sits in the middle of the browser window, on either side of the site I want a different background image aligned against it. If I were doing this with table based layout the code would be as follows: <head> <style type="text/css"> #bgleft { background: url(left_half_circle.gif) right top repeat-y;

Hello all, Ok, so what I am attempting to accomplish is to replace my table-based website with a CSS layout site, but I have run into a few hitches. My main problem is that currently my website has sliced images that form the frame around some text, I take those slices and put them into a table and everything comes out fine. My table has three rows, the first row has 5 cells, each containing a piece of the frame, with the 2nd cell...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
