Hi There,
I have an update statement to update a field of a table (~15,000,000
records). It took me around 3 hours to finish 2 weeks ago. After that
no one touched the server and no configuration changed. Until
yesterday, I re-ran it again and it took me more than 18hrs and still
not yet finished!!!
What's wrong with it? I can ran it successfully before. I have tried
two times but the result was still the same.

Trying to use the 'search' in the docs section of PostgreSQL.org
is extremely SLOW. Considering this is a website for a database
and databases are supposed to be good for indexing content, I'd
expect a much faster performance.

i just upgraded my old postgres-database from version 7.1 to 7.4.2.
i dumped out my 7.1 database (with pg_dump from 7.1) as an sql-file with
copy-commands and to one file using insert-statements.
after initalizing and starting postgres 7.4 on a different port and
datadirectory, i tried to import the sql-dump with the copy statements.
this import fails, but importing the dump-file with inserts took a long

hours. Assume I have a valid reason for using the web for the utility.
During the process I'd like to display an update on the job's status while
not stopping the process that is running. It does not need to be pretty.

I'm wanting to run through a for loop, and update a text box control to the
value as I loop through, but the only value thats's ever displayed in the
text box is that last value of the counter. Am I missing something???
As I step into the code, I can see the textbox1 test gets update, but I
never see it in the actual text box
