changing file name in "Save as" option for html files

AJ
Hi ,
I am trying to dynamically change file name of an html
that is generated through a cgi script, I know that
for it is easy to do this for other type of files such
as pdf or csv which we download and save , we can use
"Content-Disposition: attachment; filename =
"abc.pdf"" to change the file name. but this is not
working in case of html , I tried to use "inline" with
Content-Disposition, but this willl just display the
html script AS-IS . I tried another alternative like
"Content-type: text/html; name=dowload.ht ml\n\n";, but
that also fails giving an error "Link could not be
saved. Web page migh have been removed or had it's
name changed." . Is there any way to achieve this requirement ?
Could you please help me to solve this issue.

Thanks & Regards
Aravind

How about just leaving it on the end of the URL you send them?

http://example.com/generate.cgi/download.html

Works with Apache, anyway, not sure about IIS.

I have a very simple question. How do you get a link or button on a webpage to save a pdf file. I have a set of html pages with the option to download a pdf version. When you click a button or link I want the file to save, not open in the browser. This needs to be universal so a change to local PC settings is of no use. It seems that it is impossible to do in html so some form of script seems to be the answer.

Background: We have hundreds of codes = specific departments, but there are frequent changes/additions to the info. For users to look up definitions, we had set up a way in Access to create a webpage link for each separate code. Back in an earlier version of Access - 97 or possibly 95 - there was a command of <File><Save as HTML> which let us select *all* of the 350+ queries and go through a wizard to save them all as HTML. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
