Recommendations for resources / promoting websites & blogs.

Hello,

I need to set-up & promote a forum whose users would be small to
medium-sized companies needing information, and posting responses
regarding emerging developments in any industry & social trends. Are
'Commission Junction' and 'Google AdSense' good resources for website
revenue generation?

Any recommendations for resources useful in promoting websites & blogs?
Thank-you

Way better: get ibls (inbound links).

How well you can promote your forum depends a lot on how you set it up.
It helps if you have 10-20 people who are willing to post right now. If
your board has 1 member, you, it's hard to get even 1 more.

Your site would need to be really busy to generate a good income from
them.

Agreed. However, it depends on the nature of your site. Some 'themes' sell
better than others and have a higher value too.

Adwords.

I heard some very bad things nonetheless:

This was not the first time that somebody mentions clickthroughs that were in
vain. All I say is that I'm skeptic.

First, I would like to apologize in advance if this is not the appropriate place to post this message; of the .NET-related newsgroups I found, this seemed to be the most general. If the information I'm requesting is covered in a FAQ somewhere, please point me to it, and I'll be happy to read it. A group of friends and I, mostly professional developers, have decided that it is time for us to learn .NET. We are (variously) versed in C, C++,...

A friend wants me to set him up with a "blog". I could create a database-driven site using ASP.net and a few forms but I gather there are tools for just this job. Any recommendations? I'd be grateful for book recommendations for Microsoft Access. I'm already acquainted with relational DB theory and SQL and have created databases in MySQL. I need a good overview and reference for Access because I need to evaluate a DB project at work written in Access and don't myself know that particular DB. TIA,

I'd appreciate references to online materials presenting general recommendations or best practices (if there are any) for organizing .NET projects.... ideally covering things like naming conventions, custom namespace usage, file and folder hierarchies, multi-project solutions, etc. And, yes, I understand there is no one "right way" to do this... just looking for some recommendations. Thanks!

I'm re-writing an application in C# that was originally written in Delphi 7. The heart of the application is a DataSet displayed in a DataGrid. One of the main functions of the previous application was to save the data to a file (it was XML, but the format is unimportant) that can be re-loaded into the DataSet at a later time. (The reason for this was that the queries which populate the DataSet can take a while to run, and people...

I do software support for software that works with both Oracle and SQL Server, so I mostly just write queries to look at the data related to the software. When I first started, I bought a couple of books to learn the basics, intentionally going with generic books that would help with both types of databases. I've got the basics down, and now I'm looking for a really detailed reference book that goes really indepth into querying for SQL...

Morning all, I've found over the years that this newsgroup is an absolute fountain of knowledge and I have been able to use heaps of stuff in the databases I've written. Personal knowledge and experience can never be properly put into a text book. I need to extend my reference material further and was wondering what resources people recommend. The most recent publication recommended is Microsoft Access Version 2002 (or 2003) Step by...

Hi all, This may have a really simple answer to it, but I can't seem to figure it out no matter how much I think about the problem. I'm working with an MVC framework (presently the most recent version of the Zend Framework 0.93, but no too committed with the project to prevent me from switching gears to a different framework), but I am having one heck of a time when attempting to reference static resources such as javascript scripts,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...
