W3C validator error isn't really an error?

I'm getting an error from the W3C validator on one of my pages:

http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=ht...Fgbook_add.php

However, according to the 4.1 specs maxlenght *is* a valid attribute for
the form element.
Or am I missing something here?

Kind regards

Yup, read the error:

"...there is no attribute 'MAXLENGHT' "
Change that attribute to "maxlength" and you may have more sucess! :-)

Well, at least you were consistent, misspelling it both in your markup
and in your post... :)

What are this group's members' ideas about including W3C validator (http://validator.w3.org) graphics on web pages? Specifically, should they be on every page? I can see including an HTML/XHTML validation graphic on each page. That way you can quickly check the page any time you update it. But what about the CSS validator? Typically (I hope), the CSS is in an external stylesheet that every page on the site links to or imports. So...

Hello, I'm having a slight problem using the W3C html validator and I've reviewed the FAQ's with no luck so hopefully someone here would be kind enough to point me in the right direction. I recently validated my site's css and the bulk of the html pages via the W3C validator but was forced to use the file upload option because the 'Validate by URL' option returns the following error: >>Sorry, I am unable to validate this document because...

Hi, I have a textbox with a Custom Validator that utilizes the OnServerValidate method for that textbox. This works fine, however the method only executes when data exists in that textbox after the Submit button is clicked. If I click the submit button and no data exists in the textbox, the OnServerValidate method does not fire. I'd like the OnServerValidate method to either execute every time the Submit button is clicked. I am...

Hi, I am trying to get my compare validator to fire properly...Since I have panels the validator wouldn't work properly, the app would fire right but would insert the data regardless and the user couldn't fix an error if they had an error. So I added another sub and fixed the panels, but the compare validator still doesn't work right. Right now the validator pops up with the error that the two values (txtAcctAmtSum and txtInvAmt) are...

I am trying to setup a field validator and tried using the control to validate set to a dropdown list box but did not seem to work. Is there anyway to set this up or do you need to use client side validation? Thanks -- Paul G Software engineer.

Hi, I am using a compare validator in asp.net application(c# code). This Custom validator is used for comparing a value enterd by the user against the primary key in the SQL database. IF the VALUE ENTERED BY THE USER EXISTS IN THE DB , then THE ERROR MESSAGE OF THE COMPARE VALIDATOR SHOULD BE DISPLAYED. For this, I used the reference artiicle "http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-...

I have a page that is very long so I have set it up to page using <div> to display or hide the different pages. When I get to the last page the user submits the page. This works great, except that if one of the validators finds an error and it isn't on the last page, the user won't see it. What I want to do is know that there is an error on the 2nd page and make that page visible (which would show the validator error message) and the...

Hi, After the response on my request from W3C I'm still unclear about Tidy vs. Validator discrepansies. That started with <IFRAME> issue, but there is more as I know. Anyway, this very basic HTML page: <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html401/strict.dtd"> <html> <head>

Actually, it doesn't have to be a blockquote...but I'm at my wits' end: I want to make bold several lines of text which have a pair of <br /tags between them...seems like the <b></bdo not "carry over" when there are <br /tags involved...??? I've tried using <p style="font-weight: bold;"></p>, I've tried <blockquote></blockquote>...I just can't figure how I'm supposed to get the <b></btags to work for all the lines! Surely there must be...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
