Embedding a sound file without launching player

I would like to embed sound (mp3 prefferred) in HTML code where the
user would click on a button and hear the sound without launching a
media player. Anyone know how this is possible?

Thanks

Impossible. You have no way of knowing what sort of player (if any) is
on the end user's system and what wil lbe used ot playback mp3. They
(the players) are legion, and they all have their own way of interacting
with user agents.

Why not do the old-fashioned, yet reliable, method of simply offering
the file to download?

Hi Peter. I wanted to port an existing app to PocketPC and just wanted
to use html as the 'engine' to cut down on package size. Doesn't seem
possible with pure HTML. Thanks.

I copied it and tried to edit the movie.htm below in the <PARAM NAME=*** location of the file where the videoclip is on my hard drive. It is already recorded by Windows Media Player. My version is 9.0 although it is coded 5.0 in this htm file. Let me know if it is able to be fixed. *** denotes where it is edited to locate the path where the videoclip is.

Here's one for the trolls...a common jibe from them is setting up audio/video hardware under linux. Ok, true story: at work today, someone asked me if I could tell him why his XP Home would play the video from a DVD but not the audio. He had been searching for an answer for days on support.microsoft.com but found none. I suggested Google and Gateway. Gateway had nothing, but sure enough, search for *XP DVD no sound* on Google and...

I have looked at some mouseover/ sound object scripts and can't get them to work. Most were more complex than needed and introduced several new parameters for me. I found a simple pair of html code segments that accomplish display of an image and automatic 'display' (playback) of a .wav file, and apparently are usable for both IE and NS, " <object height="100%" width="100%"

I am implementing a web application from which users will listen to some English words and then select what they hear. Basically, it would look something like the following: *********************************************************************** 1. Jambalaya A. Kiampalapa B. Malayama C. Jambalaya D. Giambachiaka ************************************************************************

Hi Everyone, I am a beginner on cross language development. My problem at hand is to build a python interface for a C++ application built on top of a 3D game engine. The purpose of this python interface is providing a convenient scripting toolkit for the application. One example is that a user can write a python script like: player = Player() game.loadPlayer(player) player.moveTo(location)

I've been trying for a long time to figure this out, to have a page with several MP3 clips, and each one having a custom start and stop button next to them to play the track. I finally found a bit of code that does this, but it's made for only one mp3 file. I don't know enough about javascript to customize the code myself. I know there probably needs to be an "array" of some sort, but I need some help figuring out where and how that works....

I want to Play a specific sound file in my code when a certain event happens, but i don't know how. I can play the system sounds in my program and I know how to start the media player to play an mp3 but I want to be able to play the sound file without an external player. Is there any other way of playing a sound file in vb.net code when an event is fired?

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
