OK, on my quest to get one PHP site that is actually valid XHTML 1.0
(strict)...
PHP 4.3.8: session.use_trans_sid=1
What is happening is the validator (that doesn't use cookies) sees
things like the following in the source (which are put in there from the
use_trans_sid setting after script execution):

As well all know, valid markup is important... but when trying to find
a convincing modern argument in favor of this, I found pages like
http://www.htmlhelp.com/tools/validator/reasons.html
which was very nice when Netscape ruled the World Wide Web, and
http://valet.htmlhelp.com/page/why.html
which is very suggestive but does not really give...

I have a page here that validates as XHTML 1.0 strict that works fine in
Safari, Mozilla, and IE for the PC, but in IE 5.2 for the Mac it's all
messed. Text that is supposed to be inside a table cell shows up
outside, making it nearly illegible. (Also, the page background color
does not render -- it's just a white background.)
The page is...

Hi everyone,
Is the W3C HTML Validator in error when it returns <br /> as valid
for HTML 4.01 Strict doctype?
In March 2004 , the Validator returned <br />, <hr /> and <img />
as invalid for HTML 4.01 Strict.
Liam Quinn said "You can't mix HTML and XHTML. You need to choose
one or the other syntax."

Hi,
I am really struggling with using form control names such as "gs". This
will not valid but is tremendously useful in terms of the way that it is
handled by php on the server.
Any thoughts?
Thanks, Mike

Just discovered something useful to share.
From Firefox 1.5 in memory caching is used. The onload event only fires when
the page first loads and not when the user navigates away and back to the
page. To ensure code in the onload event fires every time the user moves to
the page you need to use the onpageshow event (which is prioprieyt for...

Hi. I have been working at home on a web project (VSNET 2005 SP1). Now

Till now I hadn't added any DOCTYPE to my website.
If I'm adding XHTML 1.0 Strict, every thing's getting messed up.
Where can I get complete specifications for XHTML 1.0 Strict, so that I can amend my HTML accordingly?

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it. ...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in...
