Making a game with dhtml, pearl, and a server side script.

Hello. I am sorry if this is not the place for this topic. I am currently trying to assemble a team of programmers that know dhtml, pearl, and a server side script (maybe php). I know very little programming myself but plan to start learning programming this fall when I start taking classes at a University. I have found one person but he doesn't have much time to spend on programming (and its not fair to put the job on any single person).

Hi! Small challenge for you. The index.php uses this file and calls layout(). Take a look at www.chatty.net this file draws the chat login box on the right. I traced the CHAT button it submits and goes to the index file again, I can't figure out how it opens the chatroom. I want to get it to skip the login box and go straight to the room, with user name "guest" or "" or whatever but I'll add a field to type the name in the chat room....

Dear Sir/Madam, I'm about to start a project, the idea is to have a web interface to let user specify the URL of a target HTML document, based on that URL, retrieved and parsed the HTML document using the DHTML object model exposed by ActiveX control WebBrowser, getting the position and dimension of each node inside the HTML document, processed it and pass the result back to the user as a new HTML document.

I am stumped. I encoded the action = of my form using GET and I can't seem to get the property/value stuff from it using a JavaScript script I got from the web. I want to create a trivia game where the user gets 1 question at a time and it keeps scoring until the end and gives a summary and I want to do it only in JavaScript (no ASP, PHP, JSP, etc). I tried submitting the quiz page to itself using a query string to keep track of...

Are there methods for manipulating images in JavaScript that would allow me to write functions to rotate, skew, mask and resize images (bitmaps)? The functions need to be fast enough for use in a top-down scrolling game. Or would I be better off preprocessing all of the images with something server side such as PHP and then preloading them into my JavaScript already manipulated? The only thing I don't like about the idea of...

I've been trying to add a tree menu to my website with some luck (more or less). I came across a script on simplythebest.net, but I seem to be having a problem with it... and since they have no help section, this has brought me here. The script can be found at http://simplythebest.net/scripts/DHTML_scripts/dhtml_script_100.html (no login or anything required... I just thought the script might be too long to repost here)

Here I am presenting you the new Wednus proj. subtree, Wednus DHTML RPG engine, or just 'Wednus RPG' with a demo game using the engine. About the engine itself, since this DHTML game engine designed in generic manner, it can be used for the games other than RPG genre as well. (could be easier). By using this engine, anyone can make their own DHTML games w/ half an hour of simple scripting. and about the demo game, the name of the first...

Hi, I'm an application developer from Malaysia. I wanted to know how ASP.NET server-side events vs. client-side DHTML for FORM manipulations, may be in terms of performance and practicality? To my understanding, server events will only work when user sends request to server. Any FORM object manipulations will need to go through the Web server, whereas for DHTML, the FORM objects are manipulated on the fly. The most beutiful thing of...

Create a game in a 3x3 HTML table that works as follows: * The goal of the game is to beat the computer by scoring more points than the computer. * The game starts when a hidden random number between 1 and 9 is placed in each cell. * The user and computer take turns by "clicking" on table cells. When a cell is "clicked" by the user, the user scores the number of hidden points in the cell. When the computer takes a turn, it "clicks on"...

Me: total beginner w/ a sense of programming basics and 1 week familiarizing myself with Python world. Use WinXP. Got Python 2.5. Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
