Hi All; I am fairly new to Perl. I have a file with close to 3000 lines that I would like to split out in a certain way. I would like to put the record type starting in column 1 for 2 spaces, the employer code in column 23 for 29 spaces and employer description in column 53 for 30 spaces. I have tried modifying an existing file with no real success. I haven't found anything that specifically answers my question. Any guidance would be...

The following code is supposed to reverse the date in "yyyy-mm-dd" format, but it produces different results in Firefox 1.0 and in Internet Explorer 6SP1. In Firefox, the result is correct ("2004-11-29") but it's wrong in Internet Explorer 6SP1 ("00:20:15-11-29"). If I change "dateParts" to "dateParts", it's exactly the opposite that occures: a correct result in IExplorer but a fault in Firefox. Is there a workaround? Where do I miss the...

I'm using string.split(/^$/m, 2) on a curl output to separate header and body. There’s an empty line between them. ^$ doesn’t seem to work... Example curl output: HTTP/1.1 404 Not Found Date: Wed, 22 Feb 2006 00:01:45 GMT Server: Apache/1.3.33 (Darwin) PHP/5.1.2 mod_perl/1.29 Transfer-Encoding: chunked Content-Type: text/html; charset=iso-8859-1

Hi everyone, I am looking for some expert advise to get me out of trouble. I am looking for a solution in C# which will allow me to split the below string in the format provided. The String.Split() allows only a single char as a delimiter. So I cannot use that as well. Original String "*** MASTER (Supervisor) *** September 23, 1997 at 3:22pm \r\nThis is the first line of text. There will be many more beneath this on so look...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
