help with index file that reads and displays subdirectories for a photo album

1 New Member
I'm looking for a little help in making an index file to read the subdirectories in the same folder and display the links in a table.

i am loading photo galleries using google's picasa onto my host and since picasa exports the albums as folders (I am using a simpleviewer template) i would like to use a script to read the subdirectories in the \photos directory (where the index file would also be located) and display the folders in a clean table format, say 3 columns by an infinite amount of rows...i'm guessing that paging (p1, p2, p3, etc...or a next/previous link) would be too difficult. the key is so that if i create a new directory that is readable that it shows up in the table.

any suggestions on either which scripting language would be best javascript, php, etc...

here's the structure

\photos
------\album1
------\album2
------\album3
------\album4
------\album5
------\album6
------\album7
------\album8
------\album9

essentially how i would like the index page to show links to those directories in a table format.

album 1 | album 2 | album 3
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
album 4 | album 5 | album 6
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
album 7 | album 8 | album 9
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

so that when i add a folder called album 10 the index page will pick it up and add it to row 4 column 1.

ultimately i would like to take it further and add a file in all the directories called collage.jpg that is unique to the particular album and have a thumbnail of that photo show up above the link in the table.

in order to read the folders from the server you'll need to use server-side scripting (PHP, ASP.NET, atc.)

good luck

I am building a photo album webpage and am not sure exactly how I should organize the database. Here's where Im at so far... I have one table called 'images' which contains the columns 'albumID', 'url', 'title', and 'description'. Then another table called 'albums' which contains the column 'name'. The part where I am having the most trouble is the 'images.albumID' column. Some photos should be placed in mutliple albums, so should the...

Let me attempt to explain my problem. I have a crude php script that takes a text list of songs that was generated by an mp3 list program and translates each entry into the form where they can be inserted into my mySQL database in the proper fields although it is currently being written to another text file because of the problem I have below. The lines from the mp3 text file will look like this: Al Green - The Supreme Al Green - 01 -...

I'd like to create an ASP.NET-based photo album. Rather than creating a bunch of HTML pages as in a typical photo album, I'd like to leverage the dynamic capabilities of ASP.NET. Any suggestions for getting started, samples, or articles would be greatly apprecated... I'm particularly interested in knowing which controls to use to display the thumbnails and full-sized graphics, and how to display the full-sized graphic when a thumbnail is...

I cannot figure out how to add the following: Modify the Inventory Program to include an Add button, a Delete button, and a Modify button on the GUI. These buttons should allow the user to perform the corresponding actions on the item name, the number of units in stock, and the price of each unit. An item added to the inventory should have an item number one more than the previous last item. Add a Save button to the GUI that saves the...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...
