Typically, a binary file will contain data (bytes) that extend beyond the range of printable ASCII characters.

Typically, a binary file will contain data (bytes) that extend beyond the range of printable ASCII characters.
Or, conversely, a text file will contain only printable characters like those in the ascii table which does include control charaters (MOST of which a text file will not).

First of all, I apologize for multiposting. I am now reposting and crossposting in an attempt to reach a broader audience. Here is the original posting... (with some small changes) I am tearing my hair out trying to reproduce a problem. The one client user who has this problem is running IE6 on WinXP Pro. I tried reproducing the problem in Opera, Mozilla, IE5 on Win2k, IE6 on Win2k, but no luck. It all worked fine!

Hello, I am a Computer Programmer Analyst student. I am taking this course which for this week's assignment requires me to join some newsgroups. I am sorry to have to spam you with such useless crap. Regardless I am supposed to instigate a response of some sort, so could someone please fulfill that requirement for me? Thanks,

Hi all, I have no idea where to post questions like this. Just tried sending this message to comp.database but that didn't work - read-only newsgroup or something. So I appologise for posting here - If anyone could refer me to a more apprpriate group I would be grateful. Anyway, in the mean time I am going to ask my question - it is related to C++ afterall! ----

Sorry I made a typo in the code The correct one is like this : #include <stdio.h> int main(void) { int *buf1 = malloc(10*sizeof(int)); int *buf2 = malloc(10*sizeof(int)); printf(buf1 > buf2 ? "Downwards" : "Upwards");

This subject has come up several times in this group over the last year. Several people in this group seem to feel strongly about this topic. Rather than derail other threads with this discussion, I figured we could talk about it here. Since I'm leading off here, I'll state my opinion on the matter. I really don't care one way or the other. I use Google, and for all its faults, does do one thing right: it hides quoted text. So, I just...

Sorry about the future-post group. I've noticed a large increase in the number of general Windows questions hitting this NG lateley and thought I'd try a test to see if anyone actually reads it. I've never future-posted before and won't again, but thought it might be worth a shot to see if it helps at all. Those of you who know me, know I follow NG netiquitte. Again, sorry for the inconvenience.

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
