Newcomer seeking advice on Job

Hopefully I am posting in the right section and not annoying everyone, if I am then please except my sincere apology for wasting your time and hopefully the Mods will move it to the right location and forgive me. I have just recently finished learning Mysql databases and since I seriously enjoyed studying it, I have taken on myself to learn other databases such as Access and Oracel. As you all are well aware of its nearly impossible for a newcomer to land a job, especially one with out hand on experience and at my age (39 here). So since I have been using this forum through most of learning, I could not think of a better place to ask for help and advice, about how I can land a better job, doing what I have picked up and learned at my age and make a use of it.

I am also willing to give a helping hand, with projects for other people, so I can get the experience I need and as I hold a day job, I am not so worried about getting paid.

So guys and Gals if you can help and or have any advice to give my direction please let me know, as the saying goes I am all Ears :)

I doubt that.

Have gone through the offers here?

If you don't have experience, you could try a project, and sell/publish it. If you can show some people what you've done they might not be so keen on how many years you've been programming. You could also try by first looking for a contract position (they are easier to get than permanent positions) and get your experience that way.

If all this doesn't work, fine, you can just follow my first advice then ...

Hey buddy,

Some advice I would give you is freelance computing sites, like this one where you can start off with some small simple projects, and as you get more confident you can take on more complex ones, giving you good experience and getting a few quid while you are at it. You can then use this experience to create a portfolio of skills to show potential employers.

I am trying to store formatted text (windows format) into a MySQL database and then retrieve it. The field in the database is a varchar. I cut and paste the test into a form field formatted, then call the PHP program to add the record using POST. When I get the text out, it has lost it's formatting. Formatting in the text is achieved by multiple spaces not tabs, but even multiple spaces are converted to a single space and the carrage...

I don't know if this is the right group for my question, but I'm seeking advice from knowledgable .NET developers. Hopefully I've come to the right place. I work with a document management application which is tightly integrated with the workstation Windows environment. Our software does not necessarily handle any specific document type. User's can import any document type into our repository. On the display side, we use WinAPI to...

Hello all, As the subject says, I am a newcomer to Python and I have a newcomer question wrt namespaces and variable scope. Obviously, I might be missing smth obvious, so TIA for the patience and/or pointers to relevant resources My problem: I just discovered (by mistake) that attempting to assign a value to a non-local dictionary/list member does NOT generate an " UnboundLocalError" exception and the assignment is preserved upon

I am a recent college graduate and am looking for some advice on how to be a skilled C++ developer. My educational background is from a quite mediocre campus. Can anybody please explain what is expected of a fresh graduate in the industry? I have read starter level books(Stroustrup), and some intermediate books(Herb Sutter's Exceptional Series, Scott Meyers classic guides,C++ Common Knowledge, Efficient C++,Advanced C++ Programming Styles...

I have a Service which runs OK, but I'm abviously not starting it properly. In my OnStart event I commence a long running process which polls a database table and performs various processing. Since this polling loop is entered synchronously from OnStart, basically the OnStart event doesn't terminate for the life of the program. This doesn't give the SCM the correct feedback that the service has started properly. Consequently, the SCM throws...

I was wondering if anyone here might be able to offer me some advice for someone who can only use Macromedia Dreamweaver MX. I am (clearly!) a web design novice so apologies in advance if this is a silly question. I have been asked to build a website to specifications provided by a graphic designer at very short notice. The specifications include the visual appearance of the page, set out with pixel widths, locations of graphics, fonts, etc....

You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...
