Automatic Processing - HELP!

I work for a small business, and we process paperwork that is very repetitive. We receive it via e-mail and it is usually laid out basically the same. The e-mail is on an IMAP server. We use Outlook to check it. We input it into a Retail program (RetailIQ) and save it.

What I need is to know what kind of language to use to write a script to check the mail, whether through outlook or through the server itself, and search for specific titles like "customer name:" and "address:" and information like that and take the data following it (ie: the customers name, the customers address) and enter it into another program's database.

What I basically need is a script or help towards writing said script and extracting the data from the emails. I think I can handle the other half of inputing it into the database, but help on that would be nice. Any ideas, anyone? Thanks for your time, it is much appreciated.

I have a simple .NET application with two or three listViews which are filled with icons and when the user click on the proper item, they display the related images. I use "image = null ; " for all images that have been used and are going to be closed. This is how ever no way to reduce the memory consumption. I have noticed , using the task manager, that garbage collector doesn't actually do any collections unless the computer becomes low...

Hello, I have a multithreaded windows NT service application (vb.net 2003) that I am working on (my first one), which reads a message queue and creates multiple threads to perform the processing for long running reports. When the processing is complete it uses crystal reports to load a template file, populate it, and then export it to a PDF. It works fine so far....

Hi, I'm new at this newsgroup and I want do ask some questions and opinions about this subject. I'm developing an application focused in a very specific task: clean and labelling text documents with user-defined structural tags (title, cite, date, paragraph, itemList, ...). It makes the typical pre-processing tasks needed for computational linguistics in order to work with big corporas to use statistical tools. But I'm worried that...

Is there a way to automatically import incoming emails into a SQL Server Database? I know it is inefficient, but we have to run a number of rules on the email after it is received. Store it in a database and be able to connect other things, meetings, contacts, etc. Moving it back and forth in chunks can be difficult and the overhead could spiral out of control. So we were thinking of moving it to the DB as it was retrieved. What do you...

Hi Sqlserver experts, I use the SQL Server enterprise manager of MSSQL 2000 regularly. I'm often annoyed by the automatic blanking of the table views. If this happens then mostly with the hint : "The Results pane have been cleared to conserve server resources. To re-establish the result set, run query again." Is there any possibility to switch that blanking off ?

Hello all, I'm using the metaclass trick for automatic reloading of class member functions, found at: http://aspn.activestate.com/ASPN/Cookbook/Python/Recipe/160164 My problem is that if I 1) pickle an object that inherits from "AutoReloader" 2) unpickle the object 3) modify one of the pickled' object's derived class methods 4) reload the module holding the class

I have data processing that takes place via an application written in C. I also have a .php webpage that displays a chart of the results via the Netscape 4.79 browser. Currently, manual intervention is required to refresh the web page and show the process results. I need to fully automate this process. In a nutshell, the browser window needs to be automatically refreshed as soon as my application completes its processing. In other...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
