I am a beginner programmer learning c++. i have read some useful
information about programming games (which is my goal) on gamedev.net,
particularly "how do i program games"
http://www.gamedev.net/reference/design/features/makegames/.
the article suggests first programming a tetris clone, then moving on
to "breakout", "pacman", and a super mario style game..
My question is, how long should it realistically take me to be able to...

I have a client that is really pushing me to start using Flash MX
Professional to replace VS.NET. Main arguement is that it looks better and
flows nicer than visual studio developed applcations (this client is a
designer not a programmer). I believe that Flash is a 'Tool' not a
'Solution'. My 'Solution' is an ASP.NET application but I would like to use
Flash as a 'Tool'. I am having very hard time seeing any documentation on
the...

I know that there is probably some small amount of bias here for Java, but I
am trying to decide whether to devote my learning curve time to java or
flash. What I want to accomplish is to create a series of web based
educational games which will have very basic graphics, allow two or more
players on the same game, and have some small amount of interacitvity
between dissimilar games (IOW, there may be a math game that sends 'level
achieved'...

I just play around mainly in javascript, and I was making a web page
(http://www.freewebs.com/prugle/games.htm). I have asked a few people
to look at it, and so I have. Some people can see the flash file of
the game (once theychose a game) but others could not. I myself can
see them in Firefox 2.0, but not AOL 9.
The basic javascript is:
<div id="swfarea" class="style2 style5 style8"></div>

I am the new born baby for flash scripting.I have to make one flash game.I explained the game details below.
Actually, this is bulding a engine game.In scene 1 i have 8 layers, in the layer
one, a outline of the engine is drawn and in other layers the parts of the engine are just kept which is seperated into 7 parts. so, the game is to arrange the parts with layer one. Suppose, if the object in the layer2 is dragged to the layer one to that...

Hi, I would like to share my knowledge as a game programmer, really
game programming is hard, I don't want to disappoint you, the
important point to become a game programmer is to love game
programming, this way you will reach your target, also you need to be
patient, don't stop on the half of the road, like you are building a
great building and when you leave it like you destroy what you built,
sure because what you learn needs a practice...

Hi,
I'm developing a flash game and need to read data from a text file (about 100k). I do not want to read it from an external file.
-Is it possible to somehow import a text file into flash and compile swf without a need for an external file to read at runtime?
-How about putting the huge data into a string object defined in an .as file? Or is there a specific class to handle such data?
Let me know the right direction to do it.

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...
