flash problem

107 New Member
Hi, i've uploaded a project so you can see exactly my problem....

http://oini.com/dev/flash/index.html

the top bit of flash is the original, the second i have only altered the width parameters to be 100%. Please download the .fla file. THere are 2 layers, one with the animated bar on and one with the logo. I want only the background bar to stretch to the screen width and the text to remain the same scale! Ive tried using stage.scale = "noscale" in several ways but i am new to flash and struggling a bit.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi, theS70RM.
The method for avoiding the movie to scale is Stage.scaleMode = "noScale";
It must be written that same exact way, because actionscript is case-sensitive.

I don't know why would you do that, just make the movie's width wider. There's no way to scale some elements and others not.
At least not with pure actionscript. Maybe passing parameters with javascript or something, if you can get a little creative.
Are you trying to make the with of the movie change under different screen resolutions?
Just let the movie scale or not scale at all, or get creative with some other alternatives.

Kind regards,
The_Nephilim

If you find it in pure actionscript post it in this thread, that would be awesome.
And no, the Stage (if that's what you're meaning) can't be resized dynamically with actionscript, the width (and height also) property is read-only, so you can't change it's value.
You can try to resize it with javascript, but I don't think it's going to help much, because when the html object is larger than the swf the movie, if it doesn't stretch, leaves a wide margin at the left side.
But there's a workaround. With a JavaScript/ActionScript integration using the ExternalInterfa ce class.
With the ExternalInterfa ce you can communicate with JavaScript and it's really easy. You can make a javascript function to return the window's width and redraw the embed flash, and in flash you can make a function that depending on the window's width you adjust some movieclips.

IMPORTANT: allowScriptAcce ss (in the embed element) must be set to "always" in order to communicate properly with JavaScript, or it won't work at all.

I'm thinking about writing an article about using the ExternalInterfa ce, if I do it, I'll post it in the flash articles forum.

Best regards,

Hello, there is a known problem with Opera and the execution of content shown in <NOSCRIPT> tag. Everythings works fine, if there is only one simple script like: http://www.dr-wald.de/test/Opera-NOSCRIPT.html Switching off Javascript will show the alternative content. Javascript enabled will only show the JS-content, _not_ the <NOSCRIPT> content.

Hello, I have Netscape 8.0.4 (in Firefox mode) and Flash 8.0.24.0. I also have IE and Firefox installed. If I go to this page, which contains a Flash detection movie: http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=tn_15507 all three browers successfully run the Flash movie and show the same version of Flash to be installed. However, if I try to use a javascript Flash detection solution, it does

I was thinking about where to go for lunch the other day, so I went to hardees.com to see what the menu looked like these days. What comes up is a big note that my flash version is not new enough so I can't use the site. What complete losers! When are businesses going to understand that the purpose of a web site is to communicate with customers or business parterns and NOT so your "web master or "web engineer" can show off what they...

Although this question involves Flash, I suspect the actual issue is an asp one.. I am trying to open the web.sitemap file in an .swf file enbedded in an asp page (I'm working in VS 2005). I get an error in Flash when it trys to open this file using standard Flash commands. However when I change the file name and command to 'Web.xml' it works. (it also works if I don't change the name, but run the swf in flash player and not via the...

The problem is, depending on the browser and OS i.e.(firefix,ubuntu) the submenu is behind the flash. How can i fix this problem. I googled for the last day and the only thing I found was to put the flash in it's own div and set the z-index to -1. This solved nothing. here is a copy of...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development projectplanning, coding, testing, and deploymentwithout human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
