I have recently gone back to doing some work in c, after years of c++, but I
find the lack of templates and in particular the container in the stl to be
a huge show stopper.
There are math libs, plotting libs, graphic libs etc but I what about some
usefull container lib. Any ideas anyone?

Ok, first of all, let's get the obvious stuff out of the way. I'm an idiot. So please indulge me for a moment. Consider it an act of "community service"....
What does "64bit" mean to your friendly neighborhood C# programmer? The standard answer I get from computer sales people is: "It means that the CPU can process 64 bits of data at a time instead of 32." Ok... I guess I *kind* of understand what that means at an intuitive level, but what...

Hi friends,
I need to write a parallel code in 'C' on the server that is
running SGI Irix 6.5. This server supports MIPS Pro C compiler. I don't
have any idea of parallel C languages. I looked into few posts in this
group. I could make out that there are several languages for parallel
programming and parallel C is one of them. I need to know if this is
supported by MIPS Pro C Compiler. Or are there any other parallel C
languages that have...

If we look at a programming language such as C++: When an updated Standard
comes out, everyone adopts it and abandons the previous one.
It seems though that things aren't so clear-cut in the C community. It
would seem that C99 is the most up-to-date Standard, but far more people
seem to be working off the C89 Standard.
Could someone please explain to me why this is so?

Hi,
I have read that 'C' is platform-independent and portable. I can'tsee
much a difference between the two terms. Could anyone differentiate the
two? Also is the statement actually true?
Thanks

I have an database containing lots of numerical data. I want to write a
browser based interface that will allow selection of various key
parameters and yield tables, plots and/or printouts of the data
according to the selections. Ultimately I want this to run on an
intranet so that others can get access via their browsers.
The application is for in-house use only and not likely to have more
than a few users at any one time. I've managed...

I am currently migrating my Visual C++ 6.0 applications to Visual Studio
2005. I am getting compiler errors involving the VS2005's platform SDK.
When I removed directory references to that SDK, and started using the
Microsoft Platform SDK for XP SP2, the errors disappeared, but I am now
getting numerous warnings (macro redefinitions) as follows:
StdAfx.cpp
WINVER not defined. Defaulting to 0x0502 (Windows Server 2003)

In a thread about wrapping .Net applications using Thinstall and Xenocode,
it was pointed out that there may be better programming languages/IDEs to
use for the purpose of creating standalone, single executable apps.
My goal is to create desktop applications for use on Windows XP+ OSs that
are distributed as single executables that do not require traditional
install packages to run.
I would like to use a drag and drop UI development...

Cross Platform Migration An Unproblematic Approach (Windows-UNIX ) Oracle 10\11g
The principal restriction on cross-platform transportable database is that the source and destination platform must share the same endian format.
Redo log files and control files from the source database are not transported to destination database . New control files and redo log files are created for the new database during the transport process, and an ...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
