I know that DB2 LUW version 8 has "connection pooling" that provides a
connection concentrator (limits the number of simultaneous connections
that can occur). But does it really provide connection reuse in the
same manner provided by DB2 Connect or Websphere (or some 3rd party
connection interfaces)?
If DB2 V8 does have connection reuse, does the built-in DB2 connection
pooling require extra jdbc coding, and is it as robust as DB2...

I'm using the connection concentrator with db2 v8.2 on AIX 52 with
this configuration:
max_connections = 4000
maxagents = max_coordagents = num_poolagents = 600
num_initagents = 100
maxcagents = max_coordagents
intra_parallel = yes, but default degree is 1
the average number of applications connected to the database is about

Hi,
The Information Center (V8 FP4) states that "Each SQL statement must
explicitly indicate the Connection Context object, and that context must be
explicitly instantiated in the Java method" to avoid unexpected failures.
Can someone give exemples of unexpected failures ? Is it in link with the
DB2 Connection Concentrator only ?

after uncatalog one database, and catalog again with other name, if I
try to connect
with this database, everything is ok, but list applications only show
me the
connection with the uncatalog/catalog database. After I disconnect from
this database,
list applications command show all instances connection.

Hello,
after installing DB2 V8.2.3 on OpenSuse 10.1 (in vmware)
we have created a database instance with the restore command:
db2 "restore database $OLD_DB user db2inst1 using db2inst1 from
$BACKUP_DIRECTORY taken at $TS into $DB".
We have activated the database but the first connection is still slow.

I have run into a performance problem with db2 v9. When the connection
concentrator is turned on then
performance is significantly reduced. I did some simple insert tests,
75 records inserted into a table with 50 Varchar(20) and 4 CLOBs. The
results were as follows:
Connection Concentrator on db2 v8.2 ~1s
Connection concentrator off db2 v8.2 ~1s
Connection Contentrator on db2 v9.1 ~8s

I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
