I've got about a dozen new staff that need query access to an existing
database (db2 ese v9 on aix). They'll probably be using brio, and
aren't covered by my existing db2 licensing environment.
I'd prefer for them to use the db2 v9 client - since that provides a
richer environment in case we need to debug something, they want a
tool to explore the tables, etc, etc.
But I can't tell what the db2 client licensing requirements are. I've
spent about two hours sifting through ibm's web pages and still can't
find anything that makes a definitive statement here. Any help
regarding licensing of db2 runtime, db2 client is very much
appreciated!
Thanks,

Does anyone know of a framework or library that will enable me to use
publish/subscribe comms? I want to create a server (using Python)
running on a Unix box that will accept client connections (from GUIs
built with wxPython) and publish realtime data updates to them. Any
advice on where to start?
Thanks.

Hi,
After looking up Microsoft's site for licensing info...and found nothing,
I turn to this newsgroup. Does someone know what version of VB .Net you are
entitled to use when you are
a micro business? I think I can't buy a VB .Net standard edition but I'm not
sure about it.
Also if I need to buy VB .Net Enterprise, how many licenses come with this,
one only?

Greetings All, does anyone know if there are licencing considerations
involved if I just want to install MSSQL clients and tools? I need to
connect to a MSSQL database server out on the network and I want to
used Enterprise Manager, however my boss says that you may need to pay
for licensing? Can anyone shed any light on this?
Regards, TFD.

Is there a way to determine what a user's default email client is? I
read a post from 3 years ago that said no. I guess I'm hoping

Hi,
This might seem like a basic question but I have some doubts, please
humour me.
I have a client-server application using java where each client on
each machine needs to directly communicate directly with the database.
Do I need a separate db2 connect on each such machine.
Please advice.

Hello, everyone.
Our developers are wondering if their swing Java-based application
connecting to a DB2 server through JDBC requires the DB2 client access
license (CAL) per user.
They've got the Java app installed on PCs connecting a DB2 server.
They believe that the above scenario does not requires DB2 CALs.
I think as long as an application connects to a DB2 server requires a

We've fooled around with Access a bit, but only using the
single-user store-bought version. It seems to be a good
database - versatile and infinitely programmable - and
can apparently be used as a front end to SQL server if
we ever needed to go that route.
But - is there a client/server version of Access ? Looking
on the CDW site there is a bewildering variety of packages
and licences and such, but we can't figure out just which

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
