db2 version 9 license

Hi,

I have downloaded db2 version 9 through passport advantage.
The db2ese.lic file was included but I have my doubts if this is okay.
Db2licm output differs a lot from version 8.

My "db2licm -l" shows:

Product name: "DB2 Enterprise Server Edition"

License type: "License not registered"

Expiry date: "License not registered"

Product identifier: "db2ese"

Version information: "9.1"

Annotation: "-1;(_b)"
License Center tells me that DB2 Enterprise Server Edition is permanent,
all other features are expired.

Can someone tell me if this is normal behaviour?

Thanks

It is normal. In version 9, there are separate licenses that you need to
manually install based on what you purchased. The licenses are more
granular than past releases, presumably this is to have more
offerings/prices to give you more choice ($ vs features) than before. The
downside is that you need to install the license so that DB2 can help you
track compliance.

Hi I know, this might be the wrong place for such a question, but maybe you can redirect me to the right place to post. I wrote a small software under the GNU General Public License and put it on freshmeat.net for download. Now, someone likes this software and wants it to integrate into his own software as a module. This software is for sale. Is there a meaningfull solution about this issue? I just would like to give a "common" answer...

I'd like to formalise slightly the license I release my projects under. At the moment it's 'free to use, modify, distribute and relicense'. This is basically fine as I don't want t oprevent people using my work in commercial settings - but I would like to retain the right to be identified as the author. I'd also like to prevent people selling derivative works where my stuff forms the substantial part of the poduct. I'd prefer to use an...

I'm currently working on a Python program, and was wondering if it's possible to license the program, some associated tools, and a few other libraries I've written under the Python license. I had a look at the new PSF Python license on the list of OSI-approved licenses, but it makes numerous direct mentions of Python and the PSF. Is there any acceptable way to simply say that a particular source file is under the PSF license (like you...

Hi, I have a development app that needs a registry hook created by installing VC++ 6.0 but I do not have a copy of this version. I have bought VC++ .NET Standard 2003 and this hasn't done the job but was wondering if it is possible to use the license key from the version I own to install version 6.0? If this is possible, is there anywhere that I could download a copy of version 6.0 under the license for my version? Notably I am also a...

We've fooled around with Access a bit, but only using the single-user store-bought version. It seems to be a good database - versatile and infinitely programmable - and can apparently be used as a front end to SQL server if we ever needed to go that route. But - is there a client/server version of Access ? Looking on the CDW site there is a bewildering variety of packages and licences and such, but we can't figure out just which do...

My company distributes a COM object that can be license and userd by our customers. Some of my company's internal application also use the COM object. However, for internal applications, instead of licensing the COM object, we just make the application registered as "friendly". We accomplish this be including various information in the "version" property tab of the calling EXE. In my case, the calling EXE is Python.exe. So, my question...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
